He will only start the final group game if we are oot

I hope not. I’d love to see him come on second half and liven things up as he appears well capable of doing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yea but won’t start the first two games as I said

Is Turnbull a better player than Turnbull? Yes or no? That's the only question that matters. The green-tinted specs are unreal on you lot. Turnbull isn't even in the same universe as a player compared to Gilmour.

I guess you are expecting the £20 million bid to come in for Turnbull from Chelsea or Man City this Summer then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At the moment from what I've seen, Yes Turnbull is the better player right now, Gilmour still has quite a bit of growing to do though and is a couple of years younger so that's to be expected.

I suspect you have no idea just how good Turnbull is.

You seem to be under the childish illusion that merely being in the books of Chelsea makes him a better player, where's the proof?

Where's the goals and assists at the higher level?

Turnbull may be playing at a lower lever, but at every level he's played at he's makes a telling impact with goals and assists.

In his one game in Europe for Celtic he scored and assisted against the new French champions, that alone is a more telling impact than Gilmour has ever had in his young career.

He may well go on to become a better player but on merit he should not be in the Scotland team ahead of any of the regulars and isn't even next in line.

I do hope he and Turnbull get significant minutes at the tournament though coz they are the core of Scotland's future team.

some good midfielders in that squad, some decent strikers as well.

2 world class left backs, not much at right back but promise, and graft.

if only we had a better pool of centre backs.

The proof is in his MOTM performances when he's played.

I already explained this above, however, you seem to not be able to read or to willfully ignore it.

Gilmour knocked out Liverpool in the FA cup and got MOTM which is more than Eddie. He's just won the CL. He played in 2 of the games to get it. The only reason Gilmour didn't play many games this season was due to injury.

Turnbull couldn't lace Gilmour's boots right now. Younger or not.

Turnbull is not in demand down South for a reason.

The only fans who think Turnbull is better than Gilmour are Celtic fans and that is telling.

Eddie?

Wtf are you talking about?

Hmmm, all I'd say about Turbull is that he was the one stand out player in the most ineffective Celtic team for years, perhaps Gilmours best use is as impact sub, but having not watched or really cared about International football then my thoughts are pretty meh...

You rated Cummings as a good player.

I don’t think I’ll be taking any lessons about colour tinted specs from you.

Ferguson better than both, neither of those two linked with Watford or Newcastle

Turnbull clearly has some ability and has done at best ok since he came into the Celtic team, to say he is outstanding is just nonsense. He struggled to get a place in the worst Celtic side for a decade for months, he was bigged up as the the next xavi with his partnership with Soro before that quickly was put to bed when reality hit.

Gilmour has had a tough season with injury but as Scottish footballers go he is definitely the player who has the potential to go to the very very top of the game.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Disagree completely about him doing "at best ok" He's been our best player by a massive distance since the minute he broke into the team.

Hope you are right about Gilmour, but it's absolutely irrelevant to whether he merits a starting slot right now.

ok being the best in the worst in the worst Celtic side this century is hardly an achievement.

if Ntcham and Brown and McGregor bothered their bums he'd have not got a minute of gametime.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But he did, and when he got the chance he never looked back, Scotlands young player of the year and Celtic player of the year, 9 goals and 8 assists in half a season all while playing in a team that had completely fell apart.

Hoping to see what he can do in a well organised team.

I havent seen much of Turnbull at Celtic. He did very little in any of the OF games for me but was still being hyped up for his performances.

I liked the look of him for Motherwell - seemed to have a decent touch and a bit of confidence about him - but again, against us he had no real impact. Well other than to sell a goal by trying to Cruyff turn on the edge of his own box.

He was someone that gave celtic fans a bit of hope in a pretty dire season so he has done something right. But I do get the feeling he is a wee bit overhyped.

Goalscoring centre midfielders arent exactly ten a penny though so he deserves his chance.

He certainly had a far better season than McGregor or Christie.

Both very different players so it’s a moot point trying to compare both.

Gilmour is exceptional but won’t get you goals or assists. Turnbull is technically excellent and will give you goals, assists and a real threat from dead balls.

Both of them will be mainstays in years to come, arguably our best pairing since Lambert and Ferguson.

Both good players but Turnbull has a goal in him which, for a side struggling against 10 man Luxembourg will be crucial.

Which I think was the basis for the original post, but got lost in amongst the MOTM and Xavi chat.

McTominay is only 24 and McGinn 27 will take a lot for both to become mainstays in that midfield
