I think he’ll probably be given the benefit of the doubt for a season, especially as you should play entertaining football.

Will have to see what everyone does in the transfer window to gauge what realistic expectations are, but I suspect top four will be the hope rather than the expectation.

Don't really care anymore. Lost interest in Spurs to bother with our targets for the next season. If we start going on a good run it may peak my interest.

Yeah fair play. But the least you can ask for is some entertaining football, which you should get, as you’ve been shiiiiite to watch for years.

So this guy likes to play attacking football does he? That's something. I hear his record against top clubs at Roma was dreadful so we shouldn't expect too much of a change yet I guess.

posted on 10/6/21

From what I know, yeah. Sounds like his teams have taken a few hammerings, which is a concern I guess. But our games with them were class. They could very well have gone through if their finishing was better. It was like a basketball game.

At the end of the day it just feels totally unambitious and uninspired. Could be a stroke of genius but no fan is going to take to this appointment after links to Poch and Conte beforehand.

Levy seems to be on a mission to lose every Spurs supporter that is on his side before the next season starts.

posted on 10/6/21

Yeah I get that. Though I think the Poch and Conte links were always a long shot. Poch because PSG don’t want him to go, and Conte because he’s known to have very high demands. I’ve some sympathy for Levy with Conte, it was worth an approach to see whether he was up for the job. Didn’t work out, but he’d have been panned for not approaching him if he hadn’t.

Proper fair weather fan.

At least when Kane leaves us we can get in a better striker who scores hat tricks like Kane used to before he became average.

If you think about it...what does Paratici's coming mean?
Would Ten Hagg be someone Levy is still chasing?
Very unlikely...Paratici means someone who worked in Italy is coming.
That would be what he is advising.
And what can Levy do now ...but take advice?

Expect a real shakeout in the squad and the coaching staff! ....

Knowing our luck we’ll be good to watch for six months while stadia remain at low capacity due to restrictions
, after which Fonseca will leave or be sacked and we’ll probably be back in for Jose all to coincide with the grounds opening up to full capacity again

He had a decent win % at Roma, like 52%

The guy is decent but fans want Poch/Conte and are throwing toys out of their prams.

Good article OP. Our fans need to adjust their expectations a bit.

Currently we are not the same side that was chasing top 4!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Conte chase was a dumb PR move but it's the press more than the club. They love Spurs fans in disarray..if its not trying to sell our players it's linking us to every manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s not true. We were 100% in talks with Conte as confirmed by Romano and Gold. Coincidentally we were in talks with him up til season ticket deadline day, when we pulled out and a few days later we appoint Fonseca. Again, I don’t see why fans are willing to just shrug their shoulders at the clubs conduct, they are a disgrace.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because the club is bigger than Levy. Which is my greater concern. Supporting the manager and players or vexing for Levy. To each their own. I'm looking forward to new players and Skipp, Sessegnon, Scarlett, Tanganga getting positive support from the first game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Levy is Tottenham, he owns 30% of a company that owns 85% of our share capital, he is an unaccountable dictator. Fans like you are his dream - meekly shrugging your shoulders at your lot in life while he bends you over facks you right up the arrsehole with his massive, mustard coated, razor wire laced strap-on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is funny. Usual case of Spurs fans turning against each other instead of analysing the squad and the team. Pathetic post. You'll offer no solutions in your bitterness but complain and spit venom. Whatever makes you happy... What have you achieved upon all your levy hatred...let me know when we sign a manager that you approve of...till then best go back to your cave and carve.

Conte is a word class manager and, frankly, Levy fecked up massively not brining him in.

Any top manager wants to be backed, clearly levy didn’t do that.

Levy is truly exhausting...I'm fully backing Paratici because the better this works out the less we will see of Levy

The manager choice is the choice of the DoF, we can’t blame Levy on this one.

Levy is doing what we want, stepping back to let the DoF decide.

Well said, some of our supporters need to seriously get a grip, with their hissy fits over who will be the new manager. Acting like 12 year olds who cannot get their own way.

I will, I never wanted Poch or Conte. Poch is far to overrated by our fans and Conte would have been yet another ex Chelsea Manager. I would have backed both if either was appointed, but I am glad neither is now coming.

Well, at least there's a silver lining in this. Fonseca was fired because the Roma board believed he was playing too offensively/open at the back according to the media.
Which seems to be true as they have conceded alot and play quite open football from the few matches I've seen.
So the footie will be a bit better and you will eat some 4-3 or 3-0 losses now and then, which I'd rather take as a neutral fan.

Fonseca hasn't even been officially appointed and you see the outrage. Sadly It's the modern way..create negativity before the result then complain the result was negative.

Lets see what happens

Why are the likes of Sandy and you not getting it. This isn’t ‘throwing your toys out of the pram’ over this appointment, and it’s not ‘not backing Fonseca’. And also, for the record, I’ve been an ENIC/Levy supporter, apologist even, for a long time but my support has waned the last two years and as a grass roots coach and non league ST holder him signing us up to the ESL was the final straw, I do not expect my club to be responsible for trying to sell the rest of the English football pyramid down the river for a handful of silver.

But regardless of whether Fonseca gets my backing - which he does - I can still see this appointment for what it is. Cut price, unambitious, desperate. You can say it like it is but still support the guy, the two aren’t mutually exclusive, it’s called being honest and realistic about what’s going on.

And the criticism of Levy doesn’t stem from this appointment - this is a continuation of a series of sub par decision making over two years that warrants scrutiny - especially when the club charges the most expensive tickets in the land. Sacking Pochettino, appointing Jose, furlough, ESL, charging fans £60 for row Z tickets in the first game back vs Villa, flirting with Poch and Conte up til ST renewal day then pulling the plug and this whole manager debacle in general.

Fonseca categorically gets my backing and I hope he does well. That doesn’t mean I view his appointment as a step in the right direction by the club, and merely appointing someone doesn’t get the board off the hook for their shocking mismanagement of the club the last two or three years. It’s called applying context. I don’t expect sandy to understand this because he has history here and is both deliberately contrary and only sees things in black and white. If you can’t understand it either then it’s not even worth having the conversation.

You can be critical of a situation while offering support to an individual at the same time, it’s that simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would agree with you if half of the anger on this forum wasn't aimed at Fonsecas lack of quality according to some.

But it is....

If we had signed Cinte..some here would have been happy. Supposing we signed conte and signed carp players. Supposing we sign Fonseca and get top quality players? Which do we prefer? Let's wait till the window closes before acting all offended and outraged.

The same people felt we had our best summer transfer last season in prem history...now they say its not Jose's fault the squad is carp. As fans we never make our mind up. For me..we need 2 new CBs and a high energy CM that can pass. Irrespective of which magical manager we get

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s aimed at a number of things and Levy is a big part of it. Fonseca’s lack of quality is bloody obvious son, I don’t need to justify that. He’s a European journeyman who had about 20 different clubs. His only true success was in the weak Ukranian league where by the way, Sergei Rebrov is smashing it. You want Rebrov now as our manager ? It’s a joke mate, what ever way you try and swing it. The likes of Sandy etc moaning about other supporters accept mediocrity. Pretend they support the decisions, but in reality know deep down the club are an absolute mess. How can any Spurs fan be content with this ? From Conte to Levy’s 9th choice gimp that’s clearly bought in as a puppet. We will be 15th by Xmas and this c*** will be gone. Rinse and repeat. But, the Spurs fans on here that continuously defend Levy like some weird cult will keep doing the same. Levy appointed this DOF, so if he didn’t appoint the manager himself, he’s still directly involved. Wake the f** up!!!!
