From what's coming out today, is it possible that Jack Marriott could leave at the end of the summer transfer window as a free if his contract extension registration was upheld by the EFL and isn't resolved? ( I really can't see why he'd want to continue his career at this club)

I have always felt that Marriot was not given a fair crack of the whip at Derby, 2 goals against the dirties and the left out at Wembley.
Dopey cocu would not play him, then sent him out on loan, preferring to play the useless drunk, total missmanagement.
A retained list that reflects the sign of the times....not only for Derby, but all clubs. I made a comment a year ago that some players [at all clubs] could find themselves out of work and stacking shelves at Asda. The bubble has burst. Some players like Tom Huddleston can afford to retire as wealthy men...others will struggle.
With regards to Jack Marriott I really feel that there's a good player in there somewhere but lets face it since Lampard signed him none of the Managers have played him regularly and even at the Wendies where he was last on loan he went AWOL....so clearly he has 'issues'. A pity because who can forget the impact he had against Leeds in the playoffs season before last ???
Wonder how Darren Wassall feels having to tell his son that he isn't good enough. Cresswell, Mitchell Lawson and Shonibare aren't bad players and should be able to rebuild their careers at a lower level if they have the character.
Think if we hadn't signed Marriott we might have signed Toney instead. Have to say that as much as I liked Frank as our manager his permanent signings didn't cover themselves with glory.

The season we signed Marriott I think Toney was on loan at Scunthorpe and needed that time in the lower leagues to develop into what he is this season.
Stronger possibility we'd have ruined him and he'd get slated by the boo boys. Released plays for another team and then makes a 15-20 million plus move to a bigger club.
I think it's clear Marriott has the ability but doesn't want to apply it week in / week out. Highlighted at Ipswich, by Lampard, Cocu and Rooney at Derby and whilst at Wednesday.
The more and more you analyse Lampard's signings it really is an exceptional waste of transfer funds.

I loved Frank but have to say other than the 3 Premier League loans his signings were pretty average :
Efe Ambrose (never played)
Scott Malone (made too many schoolboy errors)
George Evans (ok but only average)
Andy King (injured straight away)
Ashley Cole (Hmmmmm)
Duane Holmes (ok on his day...but half hearted too often)
Florian Jozefzoon (skillful but no end product)
Jack Marriott (an enigma)
Martyn Waghorn (for a reported £7m hasn't delivered consistently and very poor last season)
Marshall managed to achieve immortality today anyway, but not in the way he wanted.
I think the fact Scott Malone has managed to score 6 goals as a LWB indicates we played him in the wrong position ( Derby playing a player in the wrong position???) and could have utilised him better. But overall he did come across as a bit of d!.c.k
The signing of Ashley Cole and to play him for that many games was just a good mate giving him one last swansong.
I really do look back on Lampard's time at the club as the completion of our demise which is strange when you consider we were beaten play off finalists.
Where could we be if we'd signed an experienced Champ manager with the remit, sign young, cheap gems as opposed to overpriced, over twenty-fives/ over the hill players and gambling our finances one last time.
Derby lost 6 of the 7 games Cole started. He allowed McGinn the freedom of Wembley. When he was a pundit at the last cup final I thought about his last Wembley appearance (or none appearance it seemed).
Danny Ward played well the other night, he's a good keeper who should be with us next season.
Then Scott Dann at centre half.
All we need now is someone who can score the odd goal or two.

We have plenty of players who can score the odd goal or two. They call themselves forwards. We tend to call them something less complimentary. Unfortunately we need players who can score more than 2 goals in a season.
Yes you are right Spart, but I can't think of any who could do a Kevin Hector.
If you take into account our restrictions due to the transfer embargo, I considered the option of:
CKR + Marriott
CKR + Lawrence
Stretton + Lawrence
or
Sibley Knight
CKR
Surely one of those options could provide more of an attacking threat, (based on some creativity in the middle)
VC has championed Ward for a while and he looks a very tidy keeper to me. But I think we have other priorities which are more pressing. Someone like Scott Dann would be ideal and would be just what Teden Menghi needs alongside him if we could get the latter back again next season. We won't find a Kevin Hector anywhere but a Super Steve Howard wouldn't go amiss.
I'd sign the Swedish keeper on this showing.

Archie Brown is joking Lausanne in Switzerland which is disappointing. I thought he had potential.

Didnt know that, Vidal.
Worrying then that Festy is still on the same 'unresolved' section of the list
I have no doubt that we can get a competitive squad together based on freebies and loan signings alone
The only thing that concerns me is we leave it late yet again and to be then told they're not yet fit yet again and start badly again next season
We need 90% of the new signings given a full pre season for a change
Yeah....I'm sure there's "stuff" going on in the background - but it's a bit disconcerting when there's so much that needs to be done....but so little (on the outside) seems to be happening. I certainly feel Rooney & co should be given another chance at improving things and it really seems that they have been ruthless in letting those go that they dont deem to be in with a chance of making it. Must admit I quite liked Archie Brown but as I said if they thought he was of the right calibre he'd still be here.

A lot of bad decisions have been made over the years resulting in good plyers leaving and then hang onto crap
Taking football out of the argument, not many would pass-up Lausanne for Derby or 99.9% of anywhere else in the UK for that matter.
