You’ve been as successful as us in this tournament.
Now. About that “it’s coming home” thing?

Yeah I'm not bothered about digressing to chat about football songs tbh.
I'll be happy enough when we dump your lot out. Again.
In fact if we let in a goal against the Czechs that would see you out on GD that really would be quite beautiful.
Ach
Can’t be bothered arguing. I expect us to be beaten tonight by a couple of goals.
Cannot see it being 5-0 by any stretch.

Oh yeah absolutely when it comes to football and Scotland and international tournaments.
I'll raise a glass of your national drink that is made in England in fact. Might make some buckfast ice-cream even, it's surprisingly nice.
I'm trying to figure out the best permutation of results that results in England coming second without having a shocker in one of the games. Maybe England beat Scotland, while the Czech Republic smash Croatia, so we can go into the final game having qualified and an entertaining draw sees us avoid one of France, Germany or Portugal in the next round.
I think England need to grow into the tournament, and could do with building up some momentum before facing one of the true elite sides.

Remember we were supposed to build momentum against Iceland
As long as we avoid France, i'm fine with Germany or Portugal... Both greats teams and would probably both be slight favourites, but with a good performance, we could beat them and really boost confidence.
I genuinely think we could beat any side in this tournament on our day, we have enough quality to do so, but obviously I'd like to avoid France if possible. But then again, if you want to win these tournament you're going to face these sides at some point, so there won't really be any excuses.
I thought Scotland looked good in that first match, and any team with Robertson, McGinn, Tierney, McTominay and Adams aren't mugs. I don't fancy either defence though, I reckon it'll come down to which one has the biggest shocker at set pieces.
@Robbing, JSPC & JYAF
From a supporter's point of view it's complex. I don't want to go into a game feeling conflicted about whether I want my team to win. On the other hand, the last WC underlined how profoundly the draw can shape the overall success of a summer campaign. England in 2018 were better than at the 2016 Euros, but there were several superior sides that didn't make it as far as we did. I think the talent that has emerged since 2018 gives us licence to aspire to reach semi-finals and finals on merit, and it would be a shame if the national narrative of this tournament was a backward step compared to the WC.
I guess we just have to be fatalistic about it though. The players obviously can't go into matches hoping not to win, and as fans it ruins our experience having that mindset. If it pans out that we meet Germany or Portugal in the next round, as JSPC says, it's not out of the question we get past them, and at that point we would be a very credible contender for the tournament.
Just don't think Scotland have many goals in the side tbh, so unless England defence gifts them something I can see a tight game score wise but comfortable enough win for England.
That's probably giving Scotland a bit too much respect imo. Whilst those players are decent PL players, if not better, we have players playing at the very top of the English game in most cases anyway. We are superior all over the field, it should be a comfortable win, but because of the nature of the fixture it will be a closer encounter than the quality might suggest.
I’m hoping for Foden to replicate Gazza’s goal this evening.
Would any England fans on here settle for a draw tonight? I’m guessing most, if not all, Scotland fans would?

Should be great tonight and then we'll see how the other teams pan out. Could come down to GD in the group quite easily for who c is messing 1st or 2nd.
We put 5 past the Czechs at home in qualifying and they're better than Scotland, so a draw would be a horrible result on the face of it. However, as someone who enjoys watching all of the home nations and Ireland in tournaments, it wouldn't be the worst outcome as it would mean Scotland would have something to play for against Croatia in the final game.
