He would have done fack all due to the shiete in behind him, Sterling is a one trick pony, Mount just plays for himself and Rice and Phillips are nothing but a couple of defensive cloggers, only Foden and Grealish looked like trying to create any chances for the CF.
If England go on and make the finals. I hope we've heard the last of how much more superior they are compared with Scotland.
Sure, you've got some great players. But anyone can lose, or draw on any given day. This wasn't just England not clicking. Some credit needs to go to Scotland too.
Leeds first team, would beat almost all international teams, but so would most premiership outfits. So many factors go towards building a top flight team that cannot be mirrored in a team that is cobbled together to represent a country in a multi-national tournament, playing no more than a handful of games together.
It isn't arrogant to say Leeds could beat Scotland, personnel wise Scotland might have the upper hand but it takes more than that to make a successful side.
Germany the last time out lost with 7 Bayern players at their home ground, German fans are now not thinking its as good as they thought it would be!..
England were as dire as it gets. Our issues start with Southgate. He's crap. Completely out of his depth. No invention or plan beyond sticking with his faves.
Add to that, Scotland were the better team last night. They played with the heart and passion every fan wants from their international team. I applaud them. Great effort and they played as a team that actually had a plan.
England won't get past any one of the top six teams
unless Southgate suddenly finds a football brain.

Of course they would.

I would think you would too, not because of the standard of players but because you are coached by a legend and your players play week in week out with each other and his system. The quality of the top nations may overwhelm you though.
I thought the issue was mostly Kane dropping off or moving into wide areas. It won't work against what was ostensibly a back five, because even if Kane pulls a player away, there still won't be the space in behind to exploit. That's why Bielsa likes two up top in those games against back three/back five.
Shaw and James also needed to push up more and create overloads in wide areas, because against a back five with three CMs, there should be the opportunity to exploit that area.
Then there's the issue of low tempo and lethargic passing and movement, but that stems from the lack of action and activity further up the pitch.

If the ball continuously goes sideways or backwards and takes forever to reach him, Kane will be marked out of the game but the same could be said of Bamford. There was a passage of play at the beginning of the second half where it took around 20 passes for the ball to pass midfield.

Yeah, Scotland have players like McGinn, with fire in the belly and passion for their country, which has got them to
... Oh. 1 major tournament in 25 years?
Same with Wales. Why would you want to be like these countries? They might do okay at these tournaments, but that is only in relation to the fact that they very rarely get this far.
The issue isn't with a lack of passion or fight, it's with tactical setup and awareness.

No, I think what creates passion in the manner of Wales and Scotland is the fact that just being at this tournament is an achievement for you. It's a fairytale, similar to Huddersfield's sojourn in the Premier League. For England, it is to be expected, because we have bigger and better footballing infrastructure.
Passion and drive wouldn't have made our players any more capable of unpicking your low block. That's come down to a lack of tactical awareness in the way we setup against a 5 vs a 4.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you think tactical setup and awareness create passion?
All the skill in the world is never enough without the will and desire.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not an either/or subject if you want to kick on rather than the making up the numbers.
Good luck with the rest of your tournament, looking forward to meeting you again circa 2045.

I think your reply just clearly shows you can’t understand what was written. I combined the two as necessities ffs.
As for the 2045 remark, equally you’ll still have the same tournament wins as us in all likelihood.
Imagine all that effort, hopes, dreams and tears……
….for nothing.
Good luck on bringing something home that has never been won by your country.

You seem to be under the impression that I'll be disappointed if England don't win every tournament. I guess it helps justify your very tiresome "English arrogance" thing.

You must have missed the multitude of arrogant statements and predictions prior to the game.
Understandable if you really have not a lot of concern as to how you won’t be disappointed. As for every tournament
Maybe it’s tiresome for you because you equally know it happens
