He has never been that bad! He seems to just another random player that Arsenal fans decide to hate, for no real reason. When he is used properly he is a solid member of the team, gives his all and I personaly would have him on the teamsheet as a given. MoM as his team knock out the World Champions? Looks I am right and the haters are wrong,as usual.
That is because you are blind.
France didn't press at all last night. Xhaka was excellent but they gave him all the time he wanted on the ball.
If rhenPL is 100mph, France last night were about 50mph. Well-played though.

Dont think pace decided this game. Allthough France not playing direct football. Wenger is right to say that France too relient on counter football and not being able to create from midfield.
It doesn't change that international football, especially with the number of games played after the restart, is played at a much slower pace than the Premier League. Italian football is likely to suit Xhaka's game very well and we could be looking at one of the world's best midfielders in Roma.
Xhaka would do well in the Series A and continental football in general. He's just not cut out for PL football where you get less time on the ball and with all the physicality. I've never disliked him as much as many Arsenal fans do.
Pogba and Xhaka were the best players in the match because they had acres of space to work with. The other thing with Xhaka is that he thrives when he isn't pressured, and so he pretty much dominated midfield yesterday.
Very happy that he's to boost his valuation by a few million €. Hopefully Roma can now pay up or stop wasting our time.
OP
Yes we're doing something wrong with Xhaka and pretty much have done for his entire time at AFC. He's played in the wrong system/position for him most of the time. That's on Wenger, he chose the mould and Xhaka got lumbered with it.
Xhaka's also been the club fans No 1. whipping boy for years, ending up carrying the can for the sh !t performances of others as well as his own mistakes. Ozil made the MF in front of him swiss cheese and basically saw to it he was always mobbed by opposition attackers. With fanboys kissing his ass and making enough noise to drown proper fans who could see exactly what Ozil was, the overly harsh narrative around Xhaka was firmly set. "Never mind Ozil making his job 10 times harder by doing feck all to help, it's all Xhaka's fault he's crap"
I do agree Italian/Spanish footy would suit him better, but he's nowhere near the PL disaster that too many AFC fans like to make out he is. People need to get off the bloke's back and stop even trying to detract from his performance last night. Which in tandem with Pogba was damned passing masterclass. I always said he was ALMOST Ozil good at passing and last night he showed it. Admittedly though both players were freakishly good in some of what they lobbed and slotted in the match.

I’m sorry but that is total rubbish, I wouldn’t condone the personal hate he has received that was well over the top however let’s not forget that the guy has made countless errors leading to goals that have literally cost us valuable points. Let’s not pretend fans make it up just to start on him. On his day he can produce a performance like he did last night but since he’s been with us those performances have been few and far between. I actually think he is improving now and the mistakes are becoming less but his criticism purely on his performances at the time was deserved.
Xhaka is a good passer of the ball when he's got the time. Yesterday he had the time.
He isn't suited to the Prem, though.
I am sure Xhaka has a mistake against Spain to unleash.
His mistakes have cost the most goals in the PL

is he not playing then ?
There are three factors here in my opinion:
(1) International football is not Premier League football, he had a lot more time on the ball and his lack of mobility was not an issue in this game.
(2) Xhaka HAS occasionally produced performances for Arsenal like this against certain opposition.
(3) Xhaka has improved significantly over the seasons since he joined Arsenal, he is less rash than he was and he is much more aware defensively - of course with the intensity of the Premier League his mobility is still a limitation, his effectiveness depends very much on who he is playing with in midfield.

To be fair to said Arsenal fans, he isn't hated for no reason. Over the course of his careers with us, he's made numerous costly individual errors (like the memorable Burnley one last season), has received the most red cards out of any player since he joined, and played with a very slow and cumbersome style which before last season was pretty useless.
However he has improved (especially last season) and put in an absolute gem of a performance for Switzerland against France.
It's a shame that we seem to stick with players through their crap years (e.g. Giroud) and then sell them to good teams where they go on and have blinders.

You sure about point 3? Perhaps take a look back at both Burnley games last season, particularly the one where a rather rash reaction resulted in a reckless red card.
The guy is a caveman in terms of mental intelligence, always has been.

Pretty much sums it up except you didnt include 4 so Ive added it below.
4. The biggest issue I have had with Xhaka since day 1 is the failure to react to a situation and him just standing there watching when he could have won the baall only for the opposition to score or assist directly from the ball he should have won. Prime example, the nose picking incident.
We’ve done plenty wrong with Xhaka.
We spent big money on him.
We gave him a contract extension.
We made him captain.
We didn’t sell him after stripping him of the captaincy.
We still haven’t sold him today.
I can't believe xhaka has been here, what, 5 years, under 3 different managers. Yet there are STILL people saying we've not used him right.
He just isn't suited to the PL. Fack him off abroad for as much as you can and replace with better.
