I have no idea on the statistics so might be wrong, but thought Drogba had a lot of good 'big games'.
For me the best big game striker was Shearer. Scored against pretty much everyone.
Exactly who I was about to suggest. Didn’t have the season numbers of other too strikers but always scored in finals and often scored the only goal in tight games against rivals. His Wembley record is ridiculous. Christ I miss him.
Drogba was always phenomenal in big games. Wijnaldum has been one for us in recent years, he has scored some huge goals.
There are also absolutely terrible players that seem to learn to play football for the biggest occasions, Origi is one
Gerrard was decent in the big games

I think someone like wijnaldum is an interesting conversation. When you have likes of Salah and Mane in the team you need someone else to step up in big games.
No disrespect to wijnaldum but the focus would be on say Salah, to be nullified. If you see what I mean?

Wonder if that's down to the opposition thinking it's Origi and giving more attention to other players? I can't imagine a top team dedicating a man to mark Origi. Maybe that helps Origi and also sheds light on why bigger better players don't always produce the goods?
Salah, does it in big games too.
Mark Hughes was ours. European Finals, Fa Cup Finals and Semis, derbies and the dips.
It would be good if Kane could start turning up against the big teams. If we are going to win the Euros, we need him to break his record of never scoring a competitive goal against a FIFA ranked top ten nation.
It looks unlikely going on current form though. He has been our worst player by far this tournament.
Drogba was the ultimate big game player. So much so that I think it really enhanced his legacy when in reality he had quite a few average seasons and his goal record was also quite average the majority of the time.
Brilliant in final and big games though. Must have been a mentality thing.
Torres loved a big game moment. Scored a fee against united, always against chelsea, couple of very important goals against arsenal in the champs league quarter final then of course there his euro final goal for spain.
Even in his less successful spell at chelsea he scored in the nou camp and im pretty sure I remember him scoring a winner against city but might be wrong on that 1.
He always turned up for us on the big stage. His fitness record kept him out of many though.
aguero used to have a fantastic record against the big teams in the pl, though that may have been tarnished a little over the past 12-18 months...an interesting contrast to suarez, who had a poor record against the big 6. think vardy's used to be very good too.

His record against United was a bit of a myth. Think it was 3 in 15 or something like that.
Rashford has scored a few against the big sides so far.
Torres scored 4 goals against United in his 8 year spell with Chelsea and Liverpool, hardly a 'few' is it?

The theory that he always had Vidic on toast and was a thorn in United’s side is a bit of a myth.
I’d bet he was nullified by Vidic and United far more than he actually produced against us.
David Mcgoldrick only scores against the big 6.
Callum Robinson. Think he’s scored 5 or 6 against Chelsea in the past 2 seasons and only 1 in all games against other opposition
Mark Hughes for us. Not a great goalscorer but a scorer of great goals. I don't care if he's turned into a miserable sod after leaving United. He's still a hero to me. I actually didn't mind him giving Fergie a bit back either. Shows he's a winner and I'm sure SAF would have respected that too.

I wouldve thought 4 was exactly the definition of a few myself. Im sorry but there is no way he played 15 times against utd for us. He was only with us 3 and a half years and we never met in europe.
Off the top of my head he scored at old trafford twice and at anfield. So thats 3 games out of a maximum of 7 against utd for liverpool in the league. I have no idea if he missed any of them 7 through injury as I cant be bothered to look.
Ive never claimed torres always had vidic on toast. I had no interest in starting some utd v liverpool nonesense deabte. I claimed torres more often than not produced the goods when it mattered.
