Win or lose the team have done the country proud. Simple as that.
There would obviously be a lot of disappointment, even heartbreak for many, but I think we’re used to it and, in the main, pretty phlegmatic about defeat. The good thing is that, whatever happens, this is a young squad and two consecutive semis means that I think they’ll feel confident going into the next tournament. I actually thought this one might have come a bit too soon for them but they’re in the final on merit - overall, Italy and England have been the best two teams.
I don’t want penalties and I’d hate to see us outclassed, but if we put in a good performance and lose by the odd goal, I can live with that and I think the majority of fans will feel the same. Hoping for much better, of course!
I believe the vast majority go to the game with good intentions then alcohol kicks in and the minority kick off and a few more join in and well we know what happens next. A late ko will not help.
If we win Italy were s*** and we cheated. If we lose we' were lucky to even make the final because we didn't beat anyone good, and cheated along the way.
If we perform well and lose by the odd goal, I'd be hugely disappointed for a few days, but then see the bigger picture that we've reached a Final and Semi Final in the last two tournaments. Add to that we have a young and now tournament hardened squad, so I think there's nothing but positives to be taken in the long term.

If we lose then there will be scapegoats, unless we absolutely batter them for 120 mins but their keeper has the game of his life and then we lose 1-0 on pens.
Let's win it for Paul Mariner England RIP.

Of course if you lose the media have to fined a way to spin the stories and fill their rags. They don’t care if any of it is true.
If they leave it all on the pitch, go as hard as they can and simply get beaten on the day by a better side then hopefully they'll receive nothing but praise. They've behaved brilliantly so far and of course played well too.
It would be such a shame to go out with a whimper which is my fear to be honest
If there’s a red card followed by a loss then the panto villain will presented ready dressed with both head and @rse ready for the red tops.
Ditto if one of the dubious substitutions or non-substitutions doesn’t pay off.
if we lose i foresee panic on the streets of london, panic on the streets of birmingham

Poor Manchester missing out
'In the unlikely event that England do not win on Sunday'
'The hype is way over the top, as per usual, and this England team is frankly no better or worse than any other'
Make your mind up Sandy.
Previous teams have been extremely close knit, just not been good enough on the pitch
-----------------------------------------------------
Not the "golden generation". Player for player they run rings around this England side, had some world class managers too, they just couldn't operate as a team/had some key positions missing (e.g. DM up to standard).
Regarding the mood of the nation, unless we get absolutely slapped (and maybe even then) I'd like to think the reaction will be positive. England have been nothing but abject losers in my lifetime, reaching a S-F & a final back to back is more than good enough for me
If we lose, another total nationwide lockdown.
They can’t do any worse than the rugby team. Talk about freezing in a final.
Ok they were massively overrated and SA the opposite but still....one of the worst final appearances ever
