Just as disgraceful on that thread is the lynch mob mentality of posting a link to the whole squad implying every single one is guilty when that will be far from the case.

Posting a link of a group chat, where you can see the names of the actual offenders. Is the same as calling somebody a n**ger?

I’m hoping I misread what you’re trying to say.

Yeah, all wrong.

It appears to be an U18s team group chat. Someone linked a pic on the Pompey website that shows a team that are no way U18s and more likely the u23s. So wrong people likely implicated by the lyncher and I’ll also bet not all were indulging in the stupidity but nevertheless weigh in and taint all with a disgusting allegation.

"When will somebody stop to think about how this impacts on the white people?!"

The tone of the comments in that Twitter thread was pretty measured, with no one I could see alleging that everyone was involved. Nevertheless, a failure to point out that "not all white people are racist" really can't be equated in its dehumanising effect as likening black people to monkeys and saying they should be lynched. Indeed, unfortunate that Silver used the 'lynch mob' metaphor to attack the people who were calling out racists who were talking about lynching in its original, literal sense.

I pretty sure Portsmouth will act when they identify the individuals involved. They probably hold little or no value to the club transfer wise. And will be rightly sacked. Now Ousmane Dembele who was social media making racist comments about Asian technicians fixing his hotel tv. While on duty for French. Do you think the same will happen with him. Or as I expect will just been forgotten about.

Why do you pick out Dembele when that story involved both Dembele and Griezmann? I'm sure you didn't mean it thus but the way you frame it could be taken to suggest that the double standards are around giving black people more leeway to be racist than white people, whereas the full picture suggests that the double standards are around protecting assets worth tens of millions of Euros.

Griezmann chuckled at what Dembele did didnt he?

By the way, just scanning through the list on the linked page on the Portsmouth website, two names from the group chat are the same, so the point about inaccuracy (which I thought was a weak one anyway) appears to be factually wrong.

On racism without English support, there was a picture the other day of hundreds of England fans stood on some steps, and I was really surprised at how many non white fans there were.

If you listen to some, it's just fat, white old blokes that follow England and get into bother, but looking at that photo, it really isn't.

Sky Sports are also reporting it’s the u18s, I can’t see anywhere that suggests it’s the entire squad.

I wonder if the comments were meant in jest between friends? From the comments on twitter there are black players in the group? I can't imagine anyone saying those things and meaning it knowing that they had black team mates in the group.

Griezmann was complicit. Laughing at his jokes and also him self making fun of the Japanese language.

Dembélé: "All these ugly faces just [for us] to play PES, aren't you [Griezmann] ashamed."
Dembélé:"Oh feck, what a language"
Dembélé:"You're [supposed] to be developed as a country, aren't you?"

Both as bad as each other and should be dealt with.

Anyone seen that video doing the rounds of a pub full of blokes chanting "give it to a black guy he will score" ahead of the penalties.

Surprised more isn't been made of that

posted on 14/7/21

Hoping that’s the right translation. But you can clearly see Griezmann laughing along.

Maybe I am not clear?

The group chat appears to be the U18s - or some of them at least - I'd be surprised if it is all?

Some bright spark links to a club picture of what looks more like the U23s saying 'these are the guys'

a) implicating the wrong squad?
b) implicating all of them even if it was the right squad when I doubt that is the case?

If you are going to publicly call out a group as racist I think it is pretty defamatory to get it wrong but never mind if there's a few casualties if the cause is just, eh?
