Hi Peeder....thanks for the thread. A game of 2 halves really - and for me a bit unlucky to lose. We were better 1st half....Utd better 2nd half. OK it was only a friendly but thought all the trailists looked effective. A good work out in a blistering heat. Would've liked to have seen more chances created / put away....but cautious optimism if we can stay fee of injuries......🐏 🐏 🐏 🐏
I thought all of the triallists would be worth taking on, maybe with the exception of Stearman who we shouldn't need if we can get Jagielka. Morrison really stood out but with him the issue isn't really his ability.
Lawrence, Morrison and Aluko looked a good combination behind Baldock and there was good variety to the play with the full backs also getting forward.
Hard to ignore the fact though that at the moment we aren't able to sign anyone at all and are completely stuffed if that continues.
Hi Both
Agreed ... we've clearly been working on team pattern which, with a restricted squad, is where you've got to start.
Yes, it's time we could look on the brighter side.
I thought Hutchinson looked useful...if a little raw.🐏 🐏
You looked alright today. Here's to Rooney and Derby going from strength to strength
Welcome back Ramdini, your long absence, from the board led us to worry about you.

Is that solely down to the "professional standing" limitation and the fact that we fielded a bunch of ten-year olds against Chorley? As I see it, in all other respects we are able now to sign freebies and loan players albeit subject to time restrictions or have I missed something?
Anyway, thanks Vidal for your very welcome observations. You would think that if we could sign Morrison he may just realise that if he blows it again this time, he will never get another opportunity. If only he could fulfill his potential. I must say I always thought Baldock looked good when with Brighton. I cannot recall Aluko particularly but Jagielka of course is well known and could be really useful. I never rated Stearman particularly but he has loads of much needed experience. As you say, if we are unable to sign anyone then we are indeed well and truly stuffed.

Hi Chicago. I think that Stephen Pearson (CEO) said that we were addressing the issue of being forced to play the U18's against Chorley with the EFL....of course that doesn't mean they will see sense - but surely we have a case here .....
Amazingly we aren't one of the favourites for relegation. A good time to ease some of the pain if we are relegated with a bet. At least it will pay for the booze to drown our sorrows.
Spart ... IF we can sign players and IF we avoid points deductions, we'll be fine from what I saw yesterday.
However, IF the IFS happen, we'll be right down there.
So, yes, put the bets on now!
Think you meant IF the IFS don't happen Peeder.
Terry, do the EFL do common sense? If they refuse to relax the professional standing rule then they really will invite accusations of vindictiveness and a determination to see us relegated this time round.
Derby are appealing to the English Football League to relax its rules to allow the Championship side to register new players for the 2021-22 season.
Clubs are allowed to 'staff up' by offering players a 12-month contract or a six-month loan if they do not have 23 players of 'professional standing'.
However, the definition of professional standing is a single first-team appearance in a competitive game outside the EFL Trophy.
Derby meet that threshold due to their FA Cup third round tie at Chorley last season, when they played a team of youngsters after a coronavirus outbreak ruled out Rooney's entire first-team squad and many under-23 players as well.
As Derby were asked to play the game by the Football Association, they argue the unique circumstances around the fixture mean that the players involved should not be classed as being of professional standing.
BBC Sport understands that there is some sympathy within the Championship for Derby's position, although that does not necessarily mean the Rams will be successful in altering the EFL's stance.
So we do the right thing and sacrifice a place in the FA cup and the EFL want to use that as a stick to beat us with. I doubt whether the EFL will alter its stance because it is made up of total ar$eholes.
The EFL still punished clubs who submitted accounts late despite Government advice over the Coronavirus saying it was fair to do so.
If they let us off here, I can see those clubs wanting to sue the EFL.
The EFL needs a rocket up its ar5e, something like a Saturn V should do the trick.
Despite the desire to be as vindictive as possible against Derby, the EFL will not want to set a precedent here that would see clubs in similar situations forfeiting games rather than risk this sort of absolute nonsense. I imagine the FA will very much want the EFL to be fair here and hopefully will exert a bit of pressure on the EFL to do the correct thing.

You would hope so!
On a more optimistic note, have a look at the interview via the DCFC website with Bielik. He comes across as being immensely strong both physically and mentally; extremely self-confident but not arrogant.
I have the feeling that Derby 'could' be the right fit for Morrison. Given we're currently a club that's taking a beating from the EFL, owners of other clubs, fans of other clubs have shown a dislike to our club due to Mel Morris' actions ( can't blame them), there's similarities between the club and how Morrison has been treated.
Take the recent comments ( justified ) by Simon Jordan, previous managers included Big Sam, his nomadic career, sometimes a player just needs to finally find their home.
I sincerely hope the CKR factor rubs off on him, he was a journey man and like the majority of fans he very much felt like a disappointing signing to me. Sure proved his doubters wrong!
We desperately need the EFL to overturn their decision to consider the Academy players as first team players so that we can get a few players in. ( I'm not optimistic about this, feel EFL are going to play hardball)
Not entirely sure about Jagileka at 38 years of age cutting it in the Championship. If he is going to play his trade at this level we definitely need our own young defenders to learn from him. ( It's the one thing that's bugged me from when we sign senior players/staff
e.g. Nugent, Kevin Phillips (staff), Chris Baird, Ashley Cole, etc....who has benefited from their experience moving from Academy to first team?
You could argue Bogle and Lowe from the senior defenders but what about Nugent and Phillips? Delap would probably be my shout but we've not really benefitted from that given he moved to Man City.
I don't think the role of the expereinced player is to help the transition of Academy players to the first team so much as helping them on the pitch when they do step up, especially with positioning which young players take a while to learn. Jagielka is ancient I grant you but I think he would be a great signing for where we are at the moment.
DET reporting that the EFL, bless 'em, are about to relent on the Chorley issue and that we could be in a position to make some signings soon, of the loan and out of contract variety.
Does that mean that theoretically we could resign Marriott whose contract we were not allowed to extend?

He's already signed for somebody else.
We might able able to initiate a legal challenge over the loss of an asset as it was already in the contract that we could extend it, but I can't see Mel wanting to poke the fire.
So how many players will this allow us to sign. From what I've seen the indication was this will reduce down to 20 allowing three additions under the strict wage structure or on a six month loan ( Menghi's case)
