Seems odd he only has 20 odd games for Sevilla and has been loaned out to smaller La Liga teams. He is obviously young, just find it strange a team like Sevilla didn't want to give him more of a chance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's been capped for the senior side too.

Maybe a personality thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Definitely something a bit off...why are no other clubs sniffing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You see when the likes of Leicester pull a Kante from nowhere in the French league Spurs fans are slagging off our recruitment & scouting with20:20 hindsight.

When we pick up a player "no one else is sniffing around" then its clearly because he's a crap player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Difference is Leicester pull off awesome gems. When was the real proper gem we pulled off ? Young player that turned out to be Great. We don’t pull these deals often Devonshire because our recruitment is usually s**, hence the pessimism
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Kyle Walker £4m
Danny Rose £1.5m
Dele Alli £5m
Son £22m
Modric £15m
Carrick £4.5m
Berbatov £11m
Eriksen £11.5m

We have made plenty of great signings and while not young gems you can add the likes of Toby, Lloris, Vertonghen, Dembele and a good few others to the list of excellent value and quality signings.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Your initial post was about how we get stick when we sign young players, but now you are reeling off a load of older players. We don’t sign many good young players that turn into stars like you mentioned with Leicester, hence why some of us ain’t getting too hyped here. Kyle Walker was our last true young successful signing. Exactly proving my point.

Gill reminds me of a left footed Steve McManaman. Good luck to him IF he joins.

Bye Eric, shame he couldn't stay fit for a ling period but it's good move for us and him.

Yeh he looks an exciting prospect, but prospect is all he is at the moment Luka. Don’t see him making a difference next season do you ? That’s what we need

Agreed Don, Jack Clarke was a prospect but he still doesn't seem ready by a long shot.

I really want us buy a CB or 2 and a RB. Players who are ready for the first team. This should be priority.

Really hope Sanchez, Dier, Aurier, Winks and Sissoko are not here next season.

Just saw this tweet:

#thfc have made Serge Aurier, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sánchez, Eric Dier and Harry Winks available for transfer. [The Times]

Happy Days but would like Toby to stay if we are thinking of buying defenders without prem experience.

I think Lamela was involved in a goal every 3 game, considering he never could keep fit it’s not bad.

He definitely could of been a great player if he didn’t have injury issues, it’s a massive shame.

It does seem like the club are using our players to sign others, makes sense I guess.

I'll miss Lamela. Not in a Modric or Dembele way, but he was proper COYS. Shame he was made of glass but he still contributed to some class memories for me. I was there when him and Eriksen combined for the winner at the Etihad.. grate times.

Best tweet ever. Apart from Toby, I would drive these out the club myself.

Wish Coco all the best, he provided some memorable moments but was blighted by injury. He always gave 100% and fought for the badge, if we had 11 players with his work rate and attitude, we would go far.

With any luck you’d crash, and they’d survive.

Yeah, I wouldn't use no other clubs sniffing around as any kind of measurement. Him getting hardly any game time at a club like Sevilla is what seems strange to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't say he was a crap player because no one is 'sniffing around', just pointing out it's a bit odd for such a promising youngster.

I'm all for us to buy hidden gems similar to Leicester.

The player himself might of wanted consistent football and not the odd game here and there for Sevilla.

And what is not to say that other clubs weren’t sniffing around their offers were rejected? Not everything gets reported.

I just started to warm to Lamela as well

Gil looks pretty handy. There's a 3 min vid on youtube showing him up against Seville that gives you some idea of what he's about. Romero is the big transfer for me. If he can get that deal done I'll be getting close to being on board for the season.

Yeah that's fair, there's so much that goes on that we are not privy to.

Show me where I refer to "young" players?

In fact my original post referred to Kante who was 25 when Leicester plucked him out of nowhere.

Good scouting is good scouting regardless of age. Son was 22/23 when we signed him, without much fanfare. What a signing he's turned out to be. Modric, also 23, Ballon D'or winner. Bale for £6m, aged 18.

But yeah, you stick with your "everything this club does is shiiiit or lucky" line and ignore the facts.

Listing 8 players signed since 2004 is a solid point actually. Kudos.
