Ffs Burns. So typical
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bit harsh. He's scored 50 (which is a good knock, remember...) and taken 40 overs off the ball. Another century opening stand too. Let's not be too quick to criticise when our openers actually look like they might be getting somewhere finally.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did literally comment about a minute after that with:
"Was a great ball to be fair. Not sure what Burns could do"
Spose I was initially annoyed but then have it more of a rational thought when seeing the replays.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair play, I missed that
Burns did well, got a very good ball to be fair. Win is out the question now for England obviously.

Because Burns has gone...hmm
Yeah RR hitting 3.5 so it needs someone to play one day mode which I don't think England want to risk.
Bloody ell, so sure he had hit that.

It only takes an hour of scoring at 4-5 for that to come right down again.
Nah don't need to go one day mode in first session, just play as normal and then reassess at lunch.
Can easily score 120+ in final session if we have wickets in hand against a tired attack.
What was Hameed doing there so lucky to get away with that.
What the feck Hameed, that was so bad..

I remember Pakistan chased 300 in 65 overs against Sri Lanka on day 5 but it needed a couple to score big. If there was Stokes and Buttler then it was on.

All going to plan so far… add another 30-40 runs before lunch
Way jade is going England will chase this in no balls….

That doesn't need to happen yet. Get through the first session with 1 or 2 wickets down and not worry about run rate. England will back themselves not to lose 8 wickets in 2 sessions. I think it'll be far more positive after lunch and Root and Bairstow naturally go at a decent rate without even having to play more aggressively.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be honest, every bat from Malan down to Robinson naturally scores at a decent clip. The issue is scoring the runs full stop, not the run rate.
