Am sorry but no one can coach flair out of you.
And to think After a few training sessions a new coach has turned a 28yr old Moura into Prime messi playing in a friendly against a League 2 side.
Some are really taking this anti Mourinho thing to a new level
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you actually played football? I have known really talented players who were told to forget the fancy stuff and just focus on the basics. Eventually they got tired of being told flair was not needed so they packed up.
Of course flair can be diminished by training and the way a team sets up, which is why some (not all) of our players have gone backwards. I agree you do not stop being a good player, however if your motivational levels are reduced by negative coaching, then you lose that little bit extra you need.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I had played football for many many years. I grew up in Africa and for us flair is football and the reason we play it for the tease of a dribble or showcasing a bit of skill. So still remember vividly coming to the UK playing at county level and was told I didn't have to attempt to beat 5 players every time I had the ball..But I knew no better.. But I guarantee you that flair never went away but I tried to use it at the right time..
You need some modicum of flair to play in the EPL irrespective of what style you play..And yes, the football was dire in the most parts under the last manager but you don't still finish 6th with without some flair involved.
Players like Bale,Ndombele , Lo Celso etc still showed some flair when needed last season..These guys are seasoned pros and am afraid they are not loosing their football DNA they have developed from a young age whatever manager they play under.
We just have to agree to disagree

So you are familiar with what happened to Mike Obi
It's not that most players lose the physical or technical ability to pull off tricks or flair moves. It's just they become less practiced over time through lack of use, and eventually players lose the instinct to perform the tricks during matches.
You can absolutely coach that sort of thing out of a player's regular repertoire.
AM afraid its just the notion that players have gone backwards or regressed because of Mourinho. How do you gauge that. This season not even started yet. Surely not in a friendly against a League 2 side.
Were these players pulling up trees before Mourinho joined????
Anyone who has followed Spurs over the years should by now know our strengths and weaknesses and the players who are not at the level required and stinking the place out. We were only a few points off top 4 behind some established teams. Mainly, the usual suspects lets us down.
Its simple..These players will cost Nuno his job if they are not replaced just like they cost Mourinho and Poch his.

Agree on the flair side of things but a point I made Re Moura was his passing ability, surely that won't go despite regressive coaching?
I don't see as much of him as you guys to be fair

But if the words of the manager ringing through your head as you play are negative, or safe, or defend first, then the natural attacking instincts of players can be quelled. Reluctant to try something skilful in case you lose it. We've seen it loads over Jose's career, players almost afraid to express themselves, make a mistake or for something not to work.
WIth Moura, Jose often played him centrally and i thought it worked well as he had energy and mobility to press in the middle and one of his strengths is breaking and running with the ball and doing that from deep was really effective at times. I do not think Jose inhibited Lucas's skills.
Someone definitely needs to coach Bergwijn how to score a goal

Absolutely agree yes, but that's playing to the managers style which many players who never played under Mourinho have also suffered with. Players suffering by being played out of position or perhaps being put into a role they are not familiar with. Its well documented many players have left clubs for this reason..
But for me the natural ability of that player which has been ingrained in him barely goes away and he would easily integrate into a new style that he is more accustomed.

The problem with Moura, his first instinct when he recieves the ball is it put his head and run with it. See the first 5 mins of yday game as a perfect example.
Only when he has done the same thing 3 or 4 times and runs out of gas abit he will then look for a pass.
He is a very selfish player in that regards. He doesn't really think about the team first. It's more of a case how I can release all this energy? He just lacks football IQ until he gasses out abit.
If a defender or two are close to him and he has enough energy he sees it as a challenge and works out how get round them. His end product after a run is so bad most of the times.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This sums him up perfectly and in a nutshell
