so the PL teams get punished for leaving it, yet those 3 get away with no punishment for carrying on?

The conference was created a few years ago so has nothing to do with the ESL

Cause they can’t afford for the league not to happen.

The financial mismanagement of those clubs, and the unwillingness of those in charge to take ownership of that really is quite staggering. Barca’s situation especially is just farcical from a financial point of view really.

They need the ESL to happen to quite literally save them.

The super league is like your bird announcing on facebook that she's left you and gone to be with some rich guy. Then her friends slag her for being a cant then she deletes the posts. Conveniently forgotten about by fans of the EPL until she does it again, for real this time.

They’re flogging a dead horse because they’ve facked their own finances, and are trying to blame UEFA for it and acting like they are trying to save football.

this

the English teams do not need ESL. These other 3 r just looking 4 a way of getting outta there huge debts due 2 gross finacial mismanagement 2 keep them at top of there leagues.

Juventus were challenged by Napoli, so they bought Higuain, then again the next season so they bort Ronaldo. they cudnt afford either of them but did anyways as they artogantly assume they can get away with it. now the banks r up there ass they need 2 create a situation ware they can b saved and ESL is it. and b damn with all other teams.

hope UEFA grow sum ballz n go ahead n kick them outta the pyramid.

let em play the Harlem Glibetrotters at Disneyworld e ety nite.

fook em. up the bunghole...sideways

Forza

The owners of the PL clubs are cuuuunts. But it’s funny that they scarpered at the first sign of trouble and left the rest of them in the shiiiiiit.

Perez thinks he, and Real Madrid, are above anyone in football. So it’s hilarious seeing him flailing about now there’s a realisation that he needs the premier league clubs more than they need him.

If he really cared about football, he’d have done more to not rig the game in Spain in Madrid and Barca’s favour.

If say all three clubs are banned from the CL, then that competition would be dead in the water. They have the football authorities by the short and curlies and they know it.

That makes no sense. Just give their places to the teams who finished immediately behind them in the league. Balls to them if they want to start their own locked competition - personally I think they should be kicked out entirely from their domestic leagues.

LOL who is going to watch the CL if three of the biggest clubs are not in it? Without Real, Barca and Juventus the competition would be meaningless. And kicking Real and Barca out of the Spanish League, the league may as well just pack up. I am sure Levante v Real Betis will really draw in global audiences.

If the CL were truly a competition for champions, none of the three would be participating next season anyway, sandy.

Really, your mindset is exactly what has handed these clubs the power they have, or at least feel they weald, in the first place.

If they were binned from the CL the competition would move on without them and, in a few seasons time, they would be begging to rejoin.

This moment in time is the strongest they will be regarding this argument. And they know this.

Yet you are happy to have a clubs like City and Chelsea ruining the Premiership with their massive financial clout advantage.

The CL would not survive longterm without those three, don`t kid yourself.

Sandy, your argument falls down on three points (which for you isn’t too tbf).

Firstly, I have never been ‘happy’ about Chelsea and City effectively rigging the league - quite frankly, this is a bizarre thing for you to say.

Secondly, you can not compare domestic and European competitions - were UEFA to scrap the CL tomorrow people would still watch the Premier League next season.

Thirdly, you of all people know (and frequently love to remind us) of all the ‘big clubs’ that have been relegated from the top flight over the years. Yet people still flocked to matches despite this.

Quite frankly, you make zero defence for your case.

Football without Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus would be severely damaged, and you know it. They are huge sides globally, and the modern gameis all about global reach, so without those three, it would be damaged immensely. The whole Spanish TV football scene is geared around those two clubs, as is the Italian TV around Juventus. It would be huge damaging for the TV companies to exclude all three from competing in the domestic and CL competitions.

Take it from me, it will never happen. The Prem might get away with excluding Man City and Chelsea, because they are basically financially doped clubs, and were never stella clubs before the lottery wins, so would hardly be missed. But for the whole of my lifetime, Real, Barca and Juventus have been huge clubs worldwide.

Sandy, I know you were someone who backed the ESL, thinking it would boost Spurs' chances of... I dunno, something or other I guess.

Consider this though.

Arsenal, without any European football next season, have just spent £50m on a CB. We've so far loaned a couple of players, and raised a couple of million through youth player sales.

Your own club, Tottenham, with just the European Conference League (or whatever it's called) are being linked with a move for a CB, for a similar amount of money. Not sure whether you've sold anyone yet, but that probably tells its own story.

Real Madrid, with Champions League football next season (presuming they are not banned due to the subject we're discussing) have made one signing - a free transfer - and cannot afford to buy anyone for anywhere close to the sort of money PL sides are spending without selling players first.

Do you really think Florentino Perez gives a crap about helping football 'to survive' (his words, not mine) let alone lil old Spurs or Arsenal?

The damage would be more severely felt by them, than football in general. Which is why I'd predict them to come crawling back, cap in hand, in a couple of season time, were UEFA to actually ban them.

I didn`t particularly back the ESL because I thought it would be good for football. But if Spurs were going to get further left behind, then they simply had to be in it, and join the other super rich clubs. It was as simple as that. If you cannot beat them, then you have to join them.
