Goes to show how bias some views can be...Toby struggling on many stats and deservedly sold yet some say best defender on our books.

Rodon clearly superior to most of what we have.

No fan of sanchez but rather keep him than dier. He is just worth a lot more though and no cvnt wants Dier

Sanchez and Dier are both donkeys.

Rodon Sanchez seems to be our best CB partnership if we didn't sign anyone.

Do coaches use these stats? Rodon is by far our best defender.

I would prefer to keep Sanchez out of him and Dier and the stats seem to back this up. Younger, better stats, and Dier doesn't even have the HG factor in his favour.

Stats only mean so much

Anyone interested in analytics community would tell you that you can't use numbers (especially those numbers) to evaluate centre backs

Maybe but you should never ignore them. Just like when you judge a forwards on goals and assists per game. You have to afford the same logic to defenders regarding tackles abd defensive actions.

So Romero might be worse than Dier? According to your logic. Romero has never played in Prem so why we selecting him? It's very clear stats play a big part in scouting otherwise clubs wouldn't spend millions on analysts.

Seriously even someone who swears by analytics would tell you

a) those stats in particular are totally useless
b) stats just can't really tell you much about centre backs in particular. So much depends on the team around them

Toby at his best was rarely making tackles

Aurier and Sanchez make a lot through being constantly out of position

Dier looked good in training today, Ndombele had a sulk cos Dier took him out

Rodon's stats are obviously higher because he has played far less matches.

Same reason sam allardyce has a 100% england record 🤦🏾‍♂️

No it's not because it's totally abstract - it doesn't tell you anything about those situations.

I'm telling you it's useless information, nobody who knows what they're talking about would advocate using pass accuracy and interceptions per 90 to compare CBs

These stats are meaningless.

Apparently he was serie A defender of the year last season though. That's why I'm excited about the prospect of him joining.

What about heading, Sanchez can't head for toffee
