Hopefully a lower league side at home
Not sure we need another wide attacking winger who's scored 2 in three seasons. We need to strengthen the spine of the team and/or improve on what we have.
Hope Cutrone is able to find a home at Empoli, probably not the sort of club that will be able to fork out big money if he does well but if that's the case hopefully he'll attract attention from a club that will match our valuation. So it's clear that he won't be around the squad and neither will Mir. Really hope that means we're targeting experienced back up to Jimenez but I suspect that won't be the case.
Cutrone’s loan does not come with an option to buy which I suppose reflects Empoli not being in a position to buy him. I suspect they won’t be paying all his £65k per week salary either. So come next summer I guess he’ll be back training with us and looking for a final loan to take him to the end of his Wolves contract when he can leave for free. Only hope of things working out differently will be if he has a good season and there’s a bidding war to buy him next summer
In the last 12 seasons our results on the opening day have seen us win 6, draw 4 and lose 2
Less than three weeks to go in the transfer window now and it’s all gone pretty quiet on the Wolves front. In net terms the club have spent nothing yet although I do think they’ve made three very good signings in Mosquera, Trincao and Ait Nouri.
Given the lack of spending on the stadium plus nothing on transfers I do think Fosun will get some stick if not much happens by the end of the month.
Amended rules for VAR:-
What else is new for 2021-22?
Beyond the time taken to reach decisions, probably the most contentious aspects of VAR are handball and offside calls.
For the 2021-22 season, both have been amended.
In the case of handball:
What is the hand or arm position in relation to body movement?
Is the body being made unnaturally bigger?
For accidental handball:
It is an offence if an attacker scores directly or immediately after the ball touches a hand or arm.
So the penalty Leeds conceded at Liverpool last September would now not be given, as Mo Salah flicked the ball off Robin Koch's knee and his arm.
Likewise, Wolves' Max Kilman would now not be punished for the handball that cost his side against Leicester as his arm would be deemed to be in a natural position.
For offsides:
Benefit of doubt for attacking sides now restored.
In addition, assistant referees have now been given greater scope to flag for clear offsides immediately, rather than delay in case they are wrong.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope the last paragraph is adhered to and that assistant referees flag immediately, as continuing play could have caused more injuries.
What I would prefer is
1. Accidental handball is not an offence.
2. Var only changes onfield offside decisions if it’s a clear and obvious error. If it takes more than ten seconds to decide, or if a line needs to be drawn on the picture, it’s not clear and obvious.
What I would prefer is
1. VAR is only available as a pitch side monitor
2. The referee only consults the pitch side monitor if an incident occurs to which he does not have clear sight.
3. Handball is only an offence if the player's arm is away from the body.
4. Offside calls are made by the linesmen.
Starting to feel a little flat about the start now after being excited about new beginnings a month or so ago. Really starting to look like the seventh place finishes are a thing of the past.
With more than 2 weeks of the transfer window still available and the green shoots of Bruno's playing style starting to show. With Boly, Mosquera and Podence all so return soon surely it's a little early to be negative isn't it?
Bruno has said he wants another two or three players and the ones we have signed are all good so maybe things will be looking much better in a few weeks time.
I hope so Gem, seems like early games are now not even considered that important as teams are still nowhere near ready with tournaments keeping players late and deals not done til the end of August.
Just hoped Fosun would make a statement and back Bruno. They still may of course so yes we still have time but the last few windows have been disappointing and this one feels the same so far.
Hopefully I am just in a funk and will snap out of it after we smash Leicester

Ah!!!! I'm not that confident I'll be surprised if we get more than 3 points from our first 3 games.
What worries me a little about Fosun is the fact that they had plenty of time to upgrade the corners while the covid crisis was at it's peak. Ground development isn't included in the FFP rules, so money could have been spent getting them ready for the new season.
Little Jeff and Fosun have been very quiet recently and although Bruno may want 3 more players, there isn't much news coming out of Molineux. And I mean the club not the poster.
A little fact I just noticed and hasn't been mentioned on here to date. The away goal rule in all European competitions has been abolished.
Yep, won't affect us though

Wolves u18 squad are working on playing a 4231 or 433 formation which may be an indication of the direction Wolves want to go
We will have our work cut out for the first 3 games at least, Jonny and Neto great assets will be badly missed, agree about lack of CB and CM signings and failure to invest in the stadium, still excited for first home match and think Trincao may be very good, how Jiminez does is important, we just need to scramble points early doors and hope for reinforcements and injured players to come back but I do have some concerns, we may have reached our peak with 7 position ,Europe , cup semi etc
Yeah, I think we have seen our peak, at least for now. Not concerned about relegation either though. On the plus side the teams we face won't be 100% either.

If the link works it explains the lack of out lay and its not a fosun issue
The ffp thing is a factor for sure, UEFA clearly don't like upstart clubs challenging the closed shop. It does appear that Fosun wants the club to now grow organically and generate its own funds for players. Hence we're seeing players who've hardly played for the club being recruited and sold on for profit.
Personally I think the owners have released the reigns a season or two too soon. We will struggle to compete with the majority of PL clubs without further investment. Our rivals will become Southampton and Palace rather than Manchester United and Spurs. Better than Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday though I suppose.
Looks like one of the attempts to raise cash might be floundering. The deal to take Rafa Mir to Athletico is far from complete and the Spanish champions are more keen to take fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic for £50m and it looks like Mir May only be an option if that doesn’t happen
