How many years did he have left? Timing is interesting. I might've waited 12 months to see how he comes back from the injury.

How do you know ? you don't know what was asked for at the negotiations table,
Those last 4 years with a dodgy knee will be good.

Giving a new contract to the best CB in world football, is a kick in the teeth to Gini 'hit and miss' Wijnaldum? 🤔
OK. 😅

the guy wasnt offered a contract of 3 years despite being vital to the team for 5 years barely missing a game. VVD is 30 years old just come back from a horrific injury with no guarantee he will get anywhere near the levels he was before injury and was on double ginis wages to start with and has been offered a 5 year deal. Yeah thats a kick in the teeth m8.
just imagine that happening to you at your workplace
Not saying gini is the same level but he was just as important in our success considering he played literally every moment of it. same age, half the wage, couldnt even get 3 years at around 200k a week which i think was lined up at barca before psg came in with crazy money.
anyway glad to have him, before injury id have no issues him playing at the top level into his mid 30s, now though this deal could well come back to bite us on the arrse solely down to that question mark over the return from acl.
Jesus, some of these wrist slitters will find a negative in anything. Cemented the best centre back in the worlds future to the club. Burn the club down
These kind of injuries are dealt with so much better since the advent of keyhole surgery and so on.
The big man will be fine.

im whining am i? fack me, yes this is why you're soft. you see someone making an observation and assume theyre slitting their wrists? what a facking world you must live in pal.
didnt think id need to point out the obvious, but apparently i do for soft slow lads like toor.
I dont disagree with the extension, im happy to have vvd at the club for 5 years.
i pointed out it could turn out to be bad if he doesnt recover from a tricky injury and that gini will basically feel justified after this news not only did he prove he was worth what he was asking for as he got 2 offers for it. But that he was indeed undervalued by those at the top, didnt feel appreciated/loved enough or however he put it.
Not that i have an real issue with any of it or dont back the clubs decision and im certainly not slitting my facking wrists
its not a bad thing to question your clubs decisions and stuff on a football forum m8. You dont always have to suck them off and never question anything they do. Just because someone points out something or makes an observation that isnt exactly complimenting the club or patting them on the back or w.e doesn't mean theyre slitting their wrists or attacking the club. Not everyone takes things so personal.

Hopefully we’re up 3-0 in the 80th minute, bring on a youngster and klopp tells him to wrap his studs around the ankle of Dickford.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pickford will just do VVD first with a punch to clear the ‘ball’
Then nobble a skinny young lad in a ‘challenge’ for the ball. Hendo will be shuffling off
