I don’t remember Chelsea fans making up a load of nonsense when Roman first took over and bankrolled the club massively.

Just own it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Being bankrolled is one thing. But to be falsely accused of cheating is another.

Some United fans hold the belief that City have an offshore account through which they make secret payments to their star players.
The ongoing and never ending PL investigation is borne out of these false narrative.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The same rules weren’t in place then iirc.

You clearly have broken the rules over the years but I’d imagine it’s just doing similar to what Roman did.

Again, just own it.

It was the same for United fans when we had to be told that we were just buying the league because we so regularly set transfer records and we’re by far the biggest financial power throughout the 90s. Did it bother me one bit when rival fans said stuff like that? Not one bit.

Mind you, our money was earned 😂

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, I ask you: what specific rule did City broke?

City also earned their money just like everyone else.
We've earned more than you guys in prize money in the past 5 years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have funnelled money from Abu Dhabi to inflate revenues to get around FFP

Enjoy your prizes, that is all you should focus on.

How has the overall revenue been vs United in those same 5 years please? 550m vs 675m for United?
With 14% higher average player wages than United?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Prize money is not the same as total revenue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesus what’s your mastermind speciality the bleedin’ obvious?

Were talking about your finances; they don’t stop with prize money you dummy.

It’s quite clear that you really don’t know much about your own club or don’t have the character to just admit that you’re another Chelsea / Blackburn etc.

As VC said, no-one will ever respect your club.

Built on nous?! I'll take three kilos of nous please. Pull the other one. Just admit it that you built your club on money. We'd have a lot more respect for you if you just wore it.

So what, we got away with it and won loads of trophies. Deal with it poor people.

Why is this on the United board and not the scouse board?

It was the Kloppocrite who took umbrage with Pep and TT spending money because as we all know he would never be in a position to break a record signing a player

How City went from being 10th in 2008 to winning the league in 2011 thanks to the new owners savvy in the free transfer market and selling scarves, shirts and other merch whilst not putting a penny of their own money in.

It’s a fairytale story not dissimilar to Leicester’s
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the same savvy investment which plucked Liverpool from the old Division two to dominate England and Europe for many years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not nearly the same. You’re not the first to try that argument

https://www.espn.co.uk/football/blog/name/93/post/1846704/headline
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool needed the initial investment to get them from Division two to the first division. Then further investments were made which pushed Liverpool to become English champions. Thereafter, cash plus nous followed.
Don't pretend otherwise.

You’re wrong

“ Nearly all success is bought, in a way. For those supporters of title-winning teams in any era, how many of your heroes were born and bred in your home town? That said, Liverpool FC's most glorious days came as a result of good old-fashioned wheeling and dealing, not supplementary gifts from a benefactor as per the recent accusation.

True, Bill Shankly began the climb to supremacy with a tasty outlay on Ron Yeats and Ian St John. Even then there were suspicions that the board had spent years refusing to back the Liverpool manager as the attendances in the old Second Division were healthy and speculating to accumulate was considered extravagant madness.

From that moment on, though, it was simply a matter of financial acumen allied to both Shankly's and Bob Paisley's incredible eye for a player, assisted by one of the best scouts of all time, Geoff Twentyman.

A simple timeline based on one key position -- centre forward -- demonstrates how good Liverpool were. Kevin Keegan, bought for peanuts, was sold at a significant price that helped to buy Kenny Dalglish. The purchase and subsequent sale of Ian Rush turned such a handsome profit it was invested in John Barnes, Peter Beardsley and John Aldridge. In that period those players scored a thousand goals for the Reds for a zero net outlay.”

Would you say financial nous would be buying a club for a small amount of money, investing in it so that the value of the club is worth more than the initial cost plus the investment?

Smoke and mirrors.

Always has been.

Want it to change, then the whole world's population would need to simultaneously and universally accept and adopt the only truly anti-capitalist ideology.

Not going to happen ........

The resistance is too well organised and resourced

I don’t really care. If all city fans admitted it just as you did then I would have no issue.

Personally I prefer the increased competition and I’m keen to see if United can see off such a threat as we did time and time again with Sir Alex.

I occasionally read rival fans site like Rawk and Redcafe. Nothing special there.
I just get bored of the constant bleating of "cheating" everytime we start doing well. If you think we're cheating, submit your evidence to the PL or shut it.

So you've decided to have a read through redcafe, seen some things you don't like (surprise surprise) and then come onto ja606 to moan and cry about it?

That is a bit special tbh.

United have been paying record fees since I began watching them.
Tommy Taylor and Dennis Law were both record fees.
We were under the ownership of Louis Edwards then , so you can imagine how much he helped ?
We have paid the fees by filling Old Trafford;
Under SAF we had nearly a guarter of a century of success.
The new redevelopment of the ground and the increased seating gave us the highest income in the league.. Plus we became a global brand on the back of the success..
Accordingly we can still pay high prices even though the current owners are hardly good with our finances.
But the high income through filling the stadium and sponsers continued.

I'm not pointing a finger at City because I don't know anything regarding their finances.
But for sure your fan in income is less than ours, and your sponsorship also, so clearly the owners have provided money.
But I don't know if they have given too much or not. I haven't followed the fair play rules.
However clearly the clubs with rich owners have profited, be it Chelsea, City, Wolves and others.
United are a rich club thanks to Busby and Ferguson.
Liverpool are in the medium bracket of wealth despite Paisley, the obvious reason being they never developed their ground when they should have. But they have made a start now.
