Yeah, Chelsea for me. If we could guarantee our key players staying fit and the AFCON wasn't on this year I would say we would be right up there as favourites. I actually think we'll finish 3rd or 4th but within 6-8 points of the top...it'll be a really close one this year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could be right, but not getting the Chelsea hype to be honest, and most teams will struggle with key players being injured.
We play Chelsea in a couple of weeks, so we'll see.

I'm not absolutely convinced by Chelsea either personally. They are very strong of course and on paper, they do look like it could be their season, but I still think they need another CB before the window closes I think.
Think Liverpool will struggle when champions league starts. They have a thin squad. Couple of midfielders short. City will bounce back. It’s between City and Chelsea for me

Got a feeling Chelsea, they have the best squad on paper to match Cities, probably not far off cost wise either 860million pound squad. Easy to forget they have hundreds of mill still on the books they dont use.
Bakayoko, Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Batshuayi, Barkley 150m right there. 72m backup keeper
and there was some clown claiming theyre the best run club the other day
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think they meant best run in 2021, not in 2017 which is when most of those signings were from I think.

Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones and Milner. I don't think the club need a couple more midfielders, providing both Keita and AOC can stay fit.

Funny how narrative take hold.
How exactly is Liverpools squad thin?
We had massive injury problems last season, 28 different CB partnerships, not CBs fit for large parts of the season, and finished 3rd, above Chelsea. 🤔
It's like the 'Liverpool ageing squad' stuff, albeit the average age of Liverpools squad is 26, as is Chelsea, and Uniteds, and Man City's, give or take.
The age thing is bizarre.
Like somehow it's a bad thing to have loads of experienced players in their prime.

I do get the impression some people are just trying to talk themselves around to believing Liverpool are a spent force.
Whether it's ageing squad, believing because we had massive injuries last season, that somehow we need a squad of 150 players to compete this year, that VVD won't be the same player, because no player has ever gotten over an injury before.
Liverpool 16 months ago were lauded by many as one of the greatest teams the PL has ever seen, yet now, it seems many have persuaded themselves they will be lucky to be scraping 4th.
Very odd.🙂
8 months ago half the people on here thought we were nailed on for the league as we were top.
Some people will write anything on here though.
I don't understand the ageing team argument either.
Of course its a long term issue when the core of your squad are entering (or have entered) their 30's but there's no guarantee that you couldn't get another 2/3 great seasons out of them minimum really and you then just continue to rebuild the squad season on season. I know it's not as simple as that, but it's also not a complete disaster to have the core of your squad still playing in their best years and very much settled at the club.
Absolutely an issue.... in three years time.
Having five or six high quality players in their prime this season is actually a good thing.
As said, some people will write anything.

Sports media generally, seem to have put Liverpool out of the reckoning for the title this season.
They could be right, I may be deluded, well see.
I think the bookies have it about right but a bit of luck for us and a bit of bad luck for others and we can absolutely win it.
H2H games will be huge this year.
Based on squads alone, you’d expect a shoot out between City and Chelsea, with Liverpool up there if they get and keep everyone fit.
United have closed the gap, but are still a little short of quality/experience in several areas.
The top four looks a no-brainier though.

What's driving that choice nick? Genuine question.
I think if lukaku hits the ground running your boys could go very close.
That said city could win their next 20 league games on the bounce
----------------------------------------------------------------------
League champions when your team was fit last time round. Your players are fit/soon to be fit again. And I can see city imploding this season unless they get a striker in(also said this before season began) and now they’ve lost two on the trot.
Obviously they will improve but I think losing silva, kompany, toure, aguero will start to show its toll on them.
