It's an absolute joke we haven't signed a midfielder.
I reckon I know what we're doing though, we're waiting until we can get Rice for a lower price like Sancho.

I would have rather we had addressed the midfield problem than go for Ronaldo. But I am in a huge minority here.
I also wouldn’t have cared if he went to City either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I totally agree. Ronaldo is a phenomenal player but with Sancho we already had quality, flexibility and depth in attacking options. There's much more net gain potential from upgrading the midfield. Moreover, it concerns me that an undroppable but not that mobile forward could make us a bit one-dimensional in attack, ironically like RVN did when Ronaldo effectively retired him. We were shaping up nicely to play an interchangeable, rapid front three, which we won't see as often now. And I guess less of Greenwood through the middle.
Add to that the fact that I've always seen him as a bit of a jerk and the Spiegel reporting on the Las Vegas incident, and I'm afraid I'm not at all happy about the homecoming.

Look at it this way. Immediately following the announcement on the NY stock exchange, the value of MUFC rose by over $300 million, before settling back down to around $198 million.
Even if we believe that the club are going to pay Ronaldo 500k a week, that covers his salary for the next four and a half years on current exchange rates.
And that’s before we even ask the sponsors to contribute, which we will, and they will do.

We looked best last year though tbf when our interchangeable wide forwards and Bruno/Pogba actually had Cavani in the middle as a focal point. In the games without him, we had people switching positions causing a nuisance, getting into good positions and then ultimately having nobody to aim for in the box.

That's true but we have some significant potential differences this season: the addition of Sancho (who is excellent, particularly at knitting together an attack, and is experienced playing across the forward line), the maturing Greenwood, and potentially Rashford injury free and back on form. In the second half of 2019-20 we saw some lovely interplay between Martial, Rashford and Greenwood; we're much better resourced to play dynamic, fluid attacking football now than we were then. Now, I'm concerned we'll see Ronaldo demanding the ball fed to him the way he does. He might score more than any of our strikers have in ages, and in the process make us less effective as an attack (which you might argue he did for Juventus).

I feel like Ronaldo coming is more reason we’ll see McFred in the middle. The interesting thing will be who plays on the left? Pogba’s in good form but if he’s unwilling to sign a contract I’d probably rather give the position to Rashford who clearly wants to stay. But if Pogba does stay then it gives us a nice problem in guess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pogba and McTom should ideally be our midfield two now tbh if we are gonna try and compete for the title, but I’m aware it’ll just take away from Pogba’s qualities.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which is why we should be playing with two 8's and a DM in behind.
....Rashford....Ronaldo.....Sancho
............Pogba.........Bruno
..................Bissouma
Ideally, this is what I would want. The double pivot doesn't do us any favours, especially when we're chasing a goal.

The likes of Lingard and James need shifting, probably waiting until the 11th hour i.e. until we are sure of getting our CM target.
There's money, 70 /80m was part of last season's budget and the club always retains funds for that one exceptional talent that allows them to exceed budget.
Don’t think clubs can justify the sort of wages players like Lingard, James and Pereira want.
