According to the most recent accounts, Liverpool's wage bill was higher than United's. That will have been reversed last season as United's wage bill increases when we are in the Champions League.

Yeah but its not even close is it? If you went through playing staff youd stop after about the first 10 top earners and realise Liverpools isnt close. The reason that is the case is liverpool employ over 550 staff apparently and include them all not just playing staff. I added roughly our playing staff wage bill once and even being generous couldnt get it over 150m it was around 130m.

Ye what I before said about ours including all staff. Out highest paid player is Salah on about
200k. You have several on 300+ and now 2 on close to half a million so doubt that can be true.

That said we have heavily bonus driven contracts so winning the CL and PL on the bounce would have increased it somewhat.

Arguably this article could be a criticism of FSG. How can United outspend us like they do AND their owners apparently draw huge amounts from them? If that's true I can't see how FSG can't spend more.

Yeah I think City have something similar in terms of incentives. It's a sensible way to do things. I have little doubt that United now have the highest wage bill.

I don't think many complain about the spending but more the amount of money they take out of the club, the amount of control Ed was given etc. Hopefully now he's taking a step back we'll improve in the transfer market

All I see there is owners who are running a business that can remain competitive (outspending everyone bar the cheats) whilst servicing the debt for the purchase.

£54million per year in debt but they've increased your revenue by about £300m per season.

Not true actually. I think Liverpool and City were the only 2 who combined these into one figure.

So city dont outsource everything they can? If Anyone genuinely believe liverpools playing staff wage bill is even close to man cities or utds theyre kidding themselves. De gea and ronaldos new salaries would cover liverpools top 4 earners alone for example.

Impossible to say really because nobody will ever know the true extent of the financial position of either club, it's all just a guessing game from where we all stand.

So for us, we’re slightly different in that we consume resources from CFG, most don’t have a similar structure. The initial ffp case with Uefa though, one of the stipulations was around full accounting for that though so they still have to appear on our books.

Anyone employed directly by the club has to go under wages.

I was thinking more about Zebra Man and his mates invading Old Trafford relatively recently

Id discussed this the other day with a utd fan. Figures i could see showed utds revenue was 24m higher than us last season and 21m higher the season before which is effectively nothing when you consider the gap that used to be between the clubs there. Im not sure what to make of it.

Before this window opened i expected it to be quiet but i expected everyone to be fairly quiet. Quite the opposite has happened. Teams like arsenal are spending 150m. Spurs have spent a packet, west ham the same. It does leave you feeling are we being short changed a bit.

I dont actually think we need too much, always maintained that stance but not going to lie another mf option and someone fresh up top in place of origi would have been nice.

There's two different sides to the coin for me. When it comes to Liverpool and FSG, where does all your money go? Your business model seems to be spending money from player sales. So where does all your other revenue go?

As for the Glazers, people still don't seem to grasp the fact that they do not put money into the football club. They take money out of it though.

They took over the club using somebody else's money, then used the club to pay off that debt.

What if I bought your house off of you and then got you to pay my mortgage for me. It's my house but you're footing the bill for it.

If you took out a business loan, would there be anything wrong with you using earnings from the business to pay that loan?

Well it depends if I'm impacting the growth of the business.

If I took over a hospital for example, using borrowed money and used the it's money to pay of the debt and took it away from providing equipment, staff and medicine that wouldn't be in the hospitals best interests.
