Yep, then the inevitable happens and he ends up making the mistakes. Like I said, he was very Lucky Traore can’t finish his dinner. That was a classic Dier moment that and it nearly cost us. Sanchez is no better and that comical moment last season when he fell flat on his a** against City with Gundogen totally mugging him off is also something he’s capable of. I just don’t trust them both, even after the decent start.

Amazing what a settled defence and decent midfield shield does.
You could have played prime Rio and Beckenbauer for us last season and they’d look awful

Yeh for the first time since the days of Walker, Toby, Verts and Rose, the defence is picking itself at the present, and remains unchanged after three Prem games. Makes a massive difference to keep changing full backs, CBs every other match.

I have to admit that Sanchez has started the season well. Maybe he's actually being coached and it's amazing what difference that can make! Also, by all accounts, he had a good Copa America so he's feeling confident at the moment.
BUT, as Don says, history tells us he has a big mistake in him so let's see how things unfold and see if he has really turned the corner.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Match? Jose used to change players and formations at half time.
I did see a stat (pre Watford game) that said despite keeping two clean sheets Spurs had conceded the most shots, shots on targets, made the most tackles in their own third & area, most blocks.
Which shows that we are taking a similar approach to Jose’s of absorbing too much pressure with a plan to hit on the break. Reminiscent of how we shut out City and Arsenal for Jose and nicked the wins before eventually all that pressure on the defence told and it started shipping goals (at key times) every game. For me the same logic applies as last season - play to your strengths. If you have a questionable defence don’t deploy tactics that put them under constant pressure, especially when you have a good attack. Play on the front foot, defend from the front. I think mentally players like Sanchez and Dier are weak and it’ll only take one late equaliser for Palace for the veneer of solidity to fade and the goals to start shipping.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a good point. We defo are playing pretty much the same tactics but with different personal. The rebirth and repositioning of Dele and the inclusion of Skipp are the main two differences from Jose's team with a more stable right back in Tanganga.
Are they enough to keep us going? Palace away will be a great indicator. High pressure game in a smaller ground. London Derby and all that too.
I've quite enjoyed watching our players defend as if their lives depended on it. The work rate of Dele has been a joy to watch. For me he optimises the new work ethic set by Nuno.

Not sure Spurs have sat back in any match, they have had chances themselves to have beaten both Wolves and Watford by more. Even in the City game, they hardly conceeded lots of chances, and were pretty solid, both on the defensive and offensive.
Definitely see better fitness levels this season. Last two or three seasons, they were on their knees come 60 minutes in most games. In every game this season they seem to have got stronger the longer the game went on. Good sign that.

Really nothing unhealthy about it. I just don’t rate Davison Sanchez like you do and I certainly don’t rate Dier. 3 clean sheets after years of sh** ness doesn’t sway my opinion mate.
And I’m pretty certain Ace and a few others agree with me too
Don, it does feel like you are setting up for the inevitable "I told you so" comment when they do feck up
For me Dier has it in his locker now to step up. I thought that he was doing it last season up until we lost the Liverpool game. After than his form fell off of a cliff.
If he doesn't then it is curtains for him.
Romero is gonna be a mainstay, you can just see it in him.
I personally would have loved to have seen Toby and Romero play CB this season for us with the other 3 as backup.

If you drop Skip or Hojbjerg for Ndombele we are going to concede a goal or two. Then the only justification for playing Ndombele is to score more than we concede. That's the old Tottenham so many posters who crave the need for a play maker.
Baffles me but heho at least you are entertained hey ?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Skipp and Hoijberg are Solid. I wouldn't mess around with it either. Dele would be the option

3 clean sheets so far should mean a bit of respect on Dier and Sanchez’s names.
Amazing what a settled defence and decent midfield shield does.
You could have played prime Rio and Beckenbauer for us last season and they’d look awful
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh for the first time since the days of Walker, Toby, Verts and Rose, the defence is picking itself at the present, and remains unchanged after three Prem games. Makes a massive difference to keep changing full backs, CBs every other match.

It was clear to see against City and Wolves we sat back. Both teams had more possession and more shots on goal. These are facts.
We hardly created any clear cut chances against Watford. I don't remember their keeper making too many saves but we ground the victory out.

reguilon sanchez romero emerson as a back 4 should have no communication issues. they should all speak spanish either as mother tongue or through being in spain
----------------------------------------------------------------------
apparently Dier does actually speak Spanish, someone said this before and pied them off cause assumed they meant Portugese but appaz he's fluent in both.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's how he worms his way into every Portuguese manager's plans. He is like Del Boy. Au Revoir Jose. Bonjour Nuno. You get my drift.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, then the inevitable happens and he ends up making the mistakes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don, I really do think you are becoming obsessed with Die and Sanchez being useless. It`s not healthy mate. You need to get over it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really nothing unhealthy about it. I just don’t rate Davison Sanchez like you do and I certainly don’t rate Dier. 3 clean sheets after years of sh** ness doesn’t sway my opinion mate.

Wolves had one decent chance 2nd half. Spurs had three or four send half that could have killed the game.

I want too be proved wrong Luka. 3 games doesn’t suddenly make them a formidable partnership I’m sorry. After the dross served up by Sanchez and Dier the last few years, it’s going too take a few months of excellent performances to convince me otherwise
