Any of you play frequently on here? Interested to know if there's any decent handicaps on here
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is 24 decent?
Nah joking, that's my pitch and putt handicap
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody's judging a high handicap. Its all about what you get from the game and you can enjoy it just as much at a higher handicap.
I used to play off 5 but work and a wife has put that to bed. Had a round the other week at Ilford golf club and shot a 76. Only a par 68 short course but pretty pleased with that considering I'm rusty
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am pretty poor to be fair. Never had lessons and I do get frustrated but I can be inconsistent at best.
Every drive I ever hit loos perfect for 2 seconds then fades (think that's the ride term?) to the right big time
I've had loads of lessons and I'm still chit

Technically you only have to be off 6 but your average 6 handicapper isn't at pro level. More like scratch in order to qualify
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Scratch now probably isn't good enoug, there are so many + handicaps out there.
also given the length of professional courses being +2 at a 6000 yard course probably wouldn't translate well to a 7000 yard one

Depends on how quick your swing is or how whippy your shaft is (ooer) maybe you need a stiffer shaft
So you guys playing off 5, did it ever cross your minds?
It's not a fade Bake, it's a slice.

Agreed. 2 of my mates are pros in essex and one plays on the European tour. I was just as good as them when I was younger but didn't have the dedication that they had as I was more interested in playing football

slice is the big high right, most common miss. there are a couple moves that cause it and they are easy enough to fix.

Yea I knew I had a 50/50 chance in getting it right and went for the wrong option.
But yea that's my biggest issue. Short game not so bad until I get the putter out

No not at all. I was never good enough to be pro. Just because you reach 1-5 handicap, it's not worth it unless you want to either become somebody who teaches lessons or goes for Q school

Lots of people high handicaps have hit the ball massive distances.
Carry is what makes the difference,
417 yard is ridiculous. At the range I get to around 300 yards give or take 10 yards. Obviously if I ma on a course and down hill, down wind I could probably do 350
