Bringing a bag to the game? £10 please

Yes, I had this when I went to the game where Bayern Munich spanked us!

The line was so long that we missed the Champions League intro and I also missed Son's goal at the beginning (the only thing to cheer that night).

It was so poorly organized and slow where one of the Bayern fans screamed:

"This is not a Village game! This is the Champions League!"

There were also people willing to throw away their back packs as the cost of storing them was pretty close to the cost of their backpack (and I imagine the inconvenience of waiting in the line to store them, and missing part of the game).

I am pretty sure that it is a security regulation to not allow back packs into the stadium, but at the same time it is quite obvious that the club are profiting from it. £10 per bag, maybe 5 staff collecting bags for the night. I can see that being a nice little cash cow to milk the fans rather than providing it as a service to fans that need to come to the stadium directly from work.

A bigger surprise is you still go and watch this tripe, whilst all the time filling Levy's pockets.

You should have stayed on your train and watched the game at home. At least that way you have the choice to change the channel over when you want.

I take it you ( reluctantly ) paid the tenner ?

A lot of grounds are doing the same, no bags over A4 size

a few seasons ago members received a bag that would be allowed into the ground in the membership pack

Surely the £10 is a deposit for the storage of the bag for the duration of the match, right?

Sounds like you’re lucky with just a tenner.

I recently had to cough £47.50 to store two bags for three hours at Euston station.

Criminal.

I assume that they don't want rucksacks etc brought into the stadium for security reasons? I also suspect the £10 is there to act as a deterrent, rather than as a money making exercise? I could be wrong.

Couldn’t you just empty your bag and stuff it in your jacket then carry the contents in?

Personally I would’ve disassembled my lap top outside into all its various components, put them in my pockets, wallet, tucked bits into my socks etc. then reassembled it all on the train home rather than give Levy a free tenner.

This trend of supporters taking bags to games and getting off their nut on coke needs to stop.

Some clubs won’t even let you take a harpsichord into the ground these days.

A deterrentYeah, in as much as speed cameras are a deterrent rather than a money making exercise. The aggro of queuing is a deterrent, all the extra tenners are for the platinum gilding on Lewis’s pina colada glasses.

You're probably right!

But it'll be interesting to know if the OP will bring a bag again next time!

My wifes uncle once went to a Boro game and while he was there he noticed he had left his darts in the top pocket of his jacket, from the night before.

Imagine the damage you could do with them. Just lob them into the away fans
