According to Gary Lineker, his good chum Ed Woodwood sealed the Ronaldo deal on the blower to Ronnys agent, whilst they were both (Linekar and Ed) sitting in Linekars back garden knecking beers.

Judge, Murtough or Ole were nowhere to be seen.

Were the Glazers there ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What in Linekars back garden? They are Americans... they probably dont even have passports.

I used to like Lineker before I found out he was mates with Woodward.

It was a joke becauae someone was trying to suggest the Glazers have to sign transfers off.

Woodward took a call re the Ronaldo deal as he arrived at Linekers home.

I hated him from the moment I found out he was wiping his bottom all over the pitch in WC Italia 1990!

Agreeing / disagreeing is the whole point of debate.

….

No one suggested otherwise. Again you have failed to read what was said to you. You are very much like RDD in this aspect.

That isn’t praise.

I am pretty sure that the Chief Exec in UK would be able to sanction a signing without getting it rubber stamped by Glazer in USA. I also am guessing that the 'Football' Team (ie Murtough Judge Ole) will identify and negotiate with targets (knowing what transfer budgets that have been made available) and then when the deal is sealed the ChiefExec will rubber stamp and arrange for the transfer of funds. Which is probably what happenend in Linekars garden.

So probably and again Im just guessing what all Ed does is say to the players agent and selling club is... are your legals happy with the contract our legals have drawn up based on the agreement you brokered with Mr Judge and his colleagues of which we are happy about. If so I suggest we proceed to signatures and then I initiate the initial payments due.

Woodward wouldn’t have signed Ronaldo without the go ahead from the Glazers.

You might be right as this signing was against the recruitment profile and policy that the club seemed to have been persuing recently. And because it was Ronaldo and the whole circus that would come with it.

By all accounts, they’ve got their finger on the pulse where our finances are concerned, which is hardly surprising given they are all about the money. But I doubt it would taken much convincing.

Nonsense. If its within the clubs budget then they wouldn't have to seek authority from the Glazers.

------------------------------------------------------------None of us know who has what authority, who can sign things off, how much say Ole has; It's all conjecture.

We know Ole has the power to say no to a signing.

Yes,I'm sure that's right.

We know the structure at the club is as follows

Woodward

Murtough

Judge

To suggest Judge is authorised to negotiate fees / wages but has to go above Murtough and Woodward to get the deal signed of is as i say, nonsense.

Both Murtough and Judge work in tandem. Ed signs off the deal, final approval is by Joel Glazer no doubt.

which is hardly surprising given they are all about the money.

……

Money is their motive for sure but it is not all about that with them . They do want to see their sporting franchises winning and there is plenty of evidence which I have provided to you in particular before.

They do, do they?

I wish they would hurry up and get their priorities straight though by sending out a message of intent i.e. we mean business about winning the league this season!

Don't care if that places pressure on Ole. If Ole fails to deliver then they should replace him.

If they were ruthless then Ole would have gone after last season.

Continually backing him in the market suggests Ole who be around as long as top 4 is achieved.

Let's see what he delivers come May.
