"But you’re clearly an idiotic moron if you don’t think racism is a society issue in Eastern Europe"
Happy if you could point out where I've said that. Or you could read what I've actually said, in that it's a worldwide problem that is getting worse, and especially so in countries dominated by right wing authoritarian governments.
Almost like you've not read a single thing I've written and just interpreted it the way you wanted to. Much like the whole 1-0 thing form the other week with Zach.. but he just did that to wind me up and push my buttons. You just seem to be completely ignorant to anything I've written in an effort to prove whatever point you originally made about these people being uneducated, when they aren't. They're ignorant and allowed to get away with their rhetoric now as it is now seen as acceptable in larger society, hence it's spread.
I'm just repeating myself now. You continue to be you pal, calling folks morons to make yourself feel better
But aye, I need eductaing
Ignorant maybe not the best choice of words there.. more arrogant.
They know they're wrong, but don't care. They just want somebody to blame for their own inadequacies.
As I stated earlier.
Right wing governments have been less authoritarian than the left in last two years but anyway. But it’s societal issues and underlying racism that gives leaders and parties with anti immigration policies a platform. Not the other way round. They simply tap into that to gain support. Hungary has a long history of racism/Xenophobia, blaming Trump for it casually is ignorant.
Saying bans is a start - they’ve been getting bans for years. Doesn’t change anything. Why they need to be educated - saying they don’t need educated is ignorance.
So you have said that racism isn't an increasing issue, yet agree that right wing governments rely on it for power.. and Hungary has seen it's right wing government increase its share of the vote in the past decade 🤷♂️
I don't recall Hungary ever being banned from participating in competitions in the past few decades despite (according to you) them having a massive racism problem at games in that same period of time.
If education is such a powerful tool, as it's proscribed to be in Scotland, you'll be able to tell me that Celtic and Rangers fans are no longer still infested with bigotry, don't continue to sign songs of "questionable" natures etc
Sectarianism is just a thing if the past because everyone is so enlightened now
Or it's still as prevalent as ever but not as vocal inside the grounds due to action being threatened by both Scottish and European football authorities.
It's only by taking action that you can affect change. As I've repeatedly said.. these people aren't dumb. They know what they are saying and doing and choose to do it regardless. They become emboldened when no real action is taken and it gets worse.
Fortunately in Scotland it is becoming less and less acceptable to hold these sectarian views in the wider population and people are charged when caught participating.
Hungarian authorities allow they're racism to spread by ignoring it. Uefa Esse tially ignores it by slapping them with paltry fines and recently a two match stadium ban. Until they're booted from participating in European football and no longer given a platform, they'll continue to get worse.
Racists won't change by trying to coax them gently into not being priicks, they only ever learn from direct action.. if they ever choose to change.
Billy Gilmour but eh
Pler
Not our place, or UEFA's place to dictate how their country educates their people on racism, but zero tolerance in the stadium and at games is. Either a full ban for the club for not getting it under control, or no fans allowed in for games, is the only way.
UEFA are judge and jury and are not going to decimate their tournaments and tv revenue. No club or country will be kicked out.

Now I have no dog in this fight but.....
"Trump was a massive enabler.. Charlottesville was a huge turning point. When he didn't denounce multiple racially motivated murders with the car, suddenly the world took note (specifically the far right) and realised they're ignorant beliefs could be platformed without major challenge."
If I read this right you are describing the far rights beliefs as 'ignorant'?
Ignorant; lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated.
So you yourself appear to agree that ignorance is a contributing factor to some of these issues?
In reality I would say it is not as black or white as either of you are arguing. Until you have covered off the re-education piece then you cannot rule it out as a possible contributing factor and remedy.
And at the same time I agree that some people wont take anything on board no matter how you spell it out for them. Some people are just determined that way.
The answer to me is getting the right balance between the two approaches you are arguing about.
As you were.

Na I agree you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, and why everything laughed off old folks and grand parents being racist because they didn’t know any better. Is that still a thing?
But why when you see 10,000 kids booing a black player for being racial abused should be clear to everything how well their educated over there. There’s been a huge racist in Eastern Europe for years, that shouldn’t be news to anyone.

It is a bit cynical to say the least to conclude in countries like the Czech Republic, where there certainly appears to be a fairly widespread societal racism issue, that they are all just born bad bassers and that education could not improve that situation.

Course I do - that’s exactly what I’ve been saying. Ignorance breeds ignorance. Been saying exactly that and how it’s mental to blame Trump for racism in Eastern Europe.
But it’s also wrong to simply say it’s a far right issue in Eastern Europe, it’s a wider societal issue. They have a long history of racism in society. Difference is that folk aren’t brushing it under the carpet and are putting a spotlight on it.

I thought the quote describing the far right as 'ignorant' was from JJ so I assumed it was him that responded to my post about it.
I really should have learned by now to pay more attention to who posts what!
I appreciate you are arguing for education Renegade.
It just also appeared that JJ was arguing against it whilst at the same time describing some of the problematic views as 'ignorant'. It just seemed to be a fairly significant contradiction and maybe an indicator that deep down he actually did agree that education could be important.

I honestly have to say and am sad to point it out but I reckon statements like the one from the Hungarians is moth to a lightbulb stuff, it will make the ultra whanks more determined to put 2 fingers up to it and go even further out of their way to be horrible.

So McGregor or Gilmour in the midfield
Assuming McTominay and McGinn would start?
"Been saying exactly that and how it’s mental to blame Trump for racism in Eastern Europe."
Nobody said that though, did they?
I simply stated that as soon as the Charlottesville thing occurred and there was no condemnation, and in fact praise for some of the racist actions.. it legitimised those racist beliefs.
Other nations took note that America had a leader who would openly back them in their racist ideologies and so their own rhetoric became more vocal and prominent.
As for the 'ignorant' comment I made a couple of times to describe the racists, I addressed this last night by recognising it was the wrong choice of word and made clear I meant arrogant.

They know what they're saying is wrong but they don't care. They get off on it and enjoy blaming other people for their own misfortunes and inadequacies.. pretty sure that's the second or third time I've now had to repeat this.

Aye the far right don’t live and believe in racism, they’re just attention seekers who do it for 90 minutes during the football for shhits and giggles.
That’s why old people are more likely to be racist too - they just like to get their kicks.
And those Czech kids they would’ve had a great laugh in the playground about how booing Kamara made them feel good about their misfortunes

I honestly have to say and am sad to point it out but I reckon statements like the one from the Hungarians is moth to a lightbulb stuff, it will make the ultra whanks more determined to put 2 fingers up to it and go even further out of their way to be horrible.

If achieving some form of notariety is one of their motivating factors then I agree completely.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Na I agree you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, and why everything laughed off old folks and grand parents being racist because they didn’t know any better. Is that still a thing?
But why when you see 10,000 kids booing a black player for being racial abused should be clear to everything how well their educated over there. There’s been a huge racist in Eastern Europe for years, that shouldn’t be news to anyone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you dont think the far-rights views are ignorant?
It is a bit cynical to say the least to conclude in countries like the Czech Republic, where there certainly appears to be a fairly widespread societal racism issue, that they are all just born bad bassers and that education could not improve that situation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Course I do - that’s exactly what I’ve been saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry - crossed wires here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As in my comment above.. I already addressed the choice of 'ignorant' in a couple of last night's comments later on, as I acknowledged I was using the wrong choice of word. I in fact meant arrogant
