No one walks, as Diafol says... it would read terribly for his next move. Any mug saying he should is in an angry cloud cuckoo land

Conte did, Zidane did twice.

Ian Holloway at Palace too.

Conte did after winning Serie A and then having to sell players. He walked away from a position of strength. Zidane the same.

Ole would be walking away because results are bad. That's the difference. If he quit, and called out the Glazers, then that would be a different story.

Neither were in danger of being sacked.

If/when he does go it could well be the 'mutual consent' line that's trotted out.

Because they didn't think they were up to the job?

Or for different reasons entirely?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Zidane felt he took the club as far as he could.

Oh i forgot, Gary Neville walked away as a player because he didn't have it anymore.

He could have picked up his wage and got humiliated every week but had some self respect and some for the club.

position does seem very tricky, there's been so many leaks since sunday you must be getting hungry

Isn't all this the fault of us champions of mediocrity anyway?

Gary Neville didn't play after that though did he? I doubt Ole wants to give up managing altogether.

Brilliant, a new narrative. Ole should be walking before he's sacked

Despite an unbeaten interim spell (all against top 8 teams) Duncan Ferguson took himself out of the running for the Everton job.

Forget what he should be doing now, Ole should have took himself out of running back then.

Gattuso did because he cared about Milan more than his pocket.

And has some self respect.

Still, i guess if he does walk, the "absolutely clueless and tactically inept non-league level manager" will be the only boss in the non-leagues to have got a top 2 finish in the PL. Potters Bar Town will probably take him on.

Wasn't that at the end of the season?

Try comparing apples to apples...

Which manager walked because of a bad result?

Ole is basically part of something bigger than himself. It's this whole Utd 'DNA', stability nonsense. He will be expected by the board to continue as quitting would leave this all in tatters. He's not as independently minded as some of these other managers to just do his own thing.

Russell Slade succeeded Ole and Cardiff and factually done a better job.

He's not had a manager gig for nearly two years, since non league Hereford fired him.

Interesting tale. So we've got one Italian that Ole not walking should be judged against.

Maybe he genuinely thinks he can turn it around? In that case it's nothing to do with this pie in the sky scenario you're pushing now. It gets more like jackanory on here every day.
