If United let Conte go to Spurs and keep Ole then that's the most baffling decision I've seen in a very long time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It won't be baffling at all. If United have decided that Conte isn't the right man for the club, why would they then try and sign him just because Spurs have shown an interest?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because Conte is one of the very few world class coaches available and if our brain trust at the club have decided he’s not the right guy then it’s just another top manager we’ve let go to a rival.
If he goes to Spurs we’re now in a position where Ole is up against Pep, Klopp, Tuchel and Conte. Doesn’t make our club look very ambitious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But if they have decided for example that Ten Hag is the right man, but they know they can't get him until the summer, why would they then change their mind because Spurs are supposedly interested in signing a manager that United already appear to have passed up on? It makes no sense.
None of us know what is going on behind the scenes and its all guesswork, but it doesn't really seem to me that we are interested in Conte, which makes sense considering the approach we have taken in the last few years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly because we need Conte now more than the (risky) appointment of Ten Haag at the end of the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think that we do. I'd much rather wait and bring in a manager that suits the squad we have there and that plays football/manages in the traditions of the club.
I think if Conte goes to Spurs, it'll show we never had any interest in hiring him, otherwise, I suspect he would wait.

Depends doesn't it. Working and living in London may be a big thing for him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He lived in Turin for long enough, not the nicest place I've visited.
You'd imagine Conte would pick Utd over Spurs, considering the squads, club stature and that he turned them down without employment only a couple of months ago.
So on to the OP.
If we keep Ole 4th will be unlikely. If I was to look at current form then I would go with Arsenal. But like us
they have been there with their current manager as well.
Leicester are actually pretty crap and are unlikely to finish 4th and Spurs are Spurs and if their next manager Can get them in top four he will be a genius with that squad.
That leaves the Hammers. This will be their best chance but they often fall flat when they play the bigger teams. If Moyes can get them to get lots of points from the other top teams then he has a chance.
I was emotional after a great run. Little did I or anyone know just how bad that run would turn into.

With ‘that squad’
People need to realise our squad is much better than Jose and Nuno have demonstrated
Due to our turgid play and rubbish results everyone has been sucked into this way of thinking we have a poor squad
We have the 5th best squad in the league ….maybe on a par with Leicester ….but is miles better than arsenal and West Ham
If conte does become new manager at Tottenham I think we will be a threat to United for 4th place this season simply cos you have Ole
We also need Kane to stop sulking though
