Was watching the Dippers v West Ham last night with my old dad and it made me realise just how pathetic we are, the West Ham players absolutely bust a gut and ran themselves into the ground for their shirts, the stadium was rocking , they refused to be dominated by a superior side.
When we were various stages of crap before Fergie we never gave up and didn’t fight like we have the past two games no matter who we played, we never made it easy for Liverpool and to be fair before the sheik City never made it easy for us .

Not getting Conte when we could was one of the biggest mistakes this club has made in recent years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not if the club don't think he is the right answer.
For me he is too similar to Jose. I know you will come back and say that Jose was washed up, but he had recently won trophies at Chelsea (as Conte has recently won trophies). And Conte is the same age as Jose when he took over at United.
Some types of managers just don't suit certain clubs and I think that Conte is one of those in relation to United. Especially with our top heavy squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We need more than anything a guy who can sort out defence and turn nearly men into winners. Conte is the best in the game at doing that and we won’t find a better option right now. Ten Hag is a popular option but imo he’d struggle at United to implement what he has at Ajax
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, you really do have a huge boner for Conte. I just don't see it working out with Conte at United.
As for Ten Hag, I don't really know enough about him to give a real opinion other than he seems like a good fit. Why do you think that he would struggle to implement at United what he has at Ajax?

The reason I’ve gotten so behind Conte is that he’s a bonafide world class coach and one of the very few coaches who could take us to a title when up against the three coaches in our three biggest rivals. It’s rare someone like that becomes available.
Regarding Ten Hag, he’s at the perfect club. Has a DoF that knows the game, has a set up from top to bottom which is very well cultivated from decades of experience and is at a club who win the title most seasons so doesn’t have to deal with the pressure of the likes of City, Liverpool and Chelsea possibly getting 90+ points in a season.
I do rate Ten Hag and would like him to manager United of course, but I just see (saw actually now 😔) Conte as far more of a guarantee (as much as guarantees go) of getting us back to the top. The Jose comparison is lazy as Jose was burnt out when he joined us - I couldn’t see it so I hold my hands up to that - but Conte is very much at his peak.
You said similar to this for Jose tbf.

Difficult to say, but I didn't really hold any excitement for watching us play under Conte every week either tbh. Although he would obviously been a huge improvement on Ole, I think there must be managers out there that suit us, and particularly our current crop of players better.

Many said they didn't want Jose and gave their reasons, and a lot of those ended up being spot on. You gave your reasons why you assumed he'd be great and was wrong.

There probably would be more exciting managers than Conte (though he’s far from boring). I just don’t see that many options. It’s not like we have hundreds of good managers to choose from and timing is everything. We could have had Ole be this bad in 2015 and Klopp would have been available. We could have had Ole been this bad in 2019 (we did 🙁 ) and Tuchel would have been available Etc.
At best right now the only semi realistic options are Rodgers, Zidane and maybe Ten Hag. Are they better than Conte? Imo no but of course, all better than Ole so depends on what happens I guess.

The age thing is irrelevant to an extent. But it also shows how quickly a managers stock can fall if they don't adapt to the changing face of football. Conte is in that age bracket now where his approach could start to look dated. That said, so is Ten Hag.

The reason I’ve gotten so behind Conte is that he’s a bonafide world class coach and one of the very few coaches who could take us to a title when up against the three coaches in our three biggest rivals. It’s rare someone like that becomes available.
This bit I mean.
Difficult to say, but I didn't really hold any excitement for watching us play under Conte every week either tbh. Although he would obviously been a huge improvement on Ole, I think there must be managers out there that suit us, and particularly our current crop of players better.

True but Jose was a busted flush, Conte isn’t. Many people said it about Jose at the time but no one is saying this about Conte now.

He's definitely here till the end of the season.
Utter shiite from the club

The only way he’s still here come the end of the season is if results and performances improve dramatically, so some small part of me hopes he is still here come May.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The reason I’ve gotten so behind Conte is that he’s a bonafide world class coach and one of the very few coaches who could take us to a title when up against the three coaches in our three biggest rivals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think that Jose comparison is lazy. They share a lot of similarities and Conte is at the same age as Jose was when he joined United. I mean, Jose had won the PL more recently when he took over at United than Conte has.
As for Ten Hag, I'd hope that any move would involve VDS, which could be a big part in why we are/may be unable to bring him in right now.

The age bit is irrelevant though. What Jose went through at Chelsea and Real aged him hugely from a managerial perspective. Conte hasn’t gone through any of those issues (or at least as severe as Jose).
I’d be much more confident about Ten Hag if we could bring in VDS. Fingers crossed it happens.

That’s because the majority of our games in the second half of the season under him have been meaningless. Always easier to win when the pressure is off.

The age thing is irrelevant to an extent. But it also shows how quickly a managers stock can fall if they don't adapt to the changing face of football. Conte is in that age bracket now where his approach could start to look dated. That said, so is Ten Hag.
