Great move for him. Good two years there and then back to Anfield is my dream.
when does Klopp to the end of his contract 2024 I believe, what is Gerrard's the end of his contract at Villa ?
No guarantee of success or a future job whether he stayed at Rangers or moved to Villa like he has done, 2024 is still another 2 and a half years away yet.
He may get sacked from Villa after 6 months, move to somebody like Southampton and be successful there. A lot of things can happen.
It's a good move for him for sure and it's another challenge and experience in his managerial career, I hope it serves him well.
On another note, I'm liking to see all of Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney currently (or recently) in managerial jobs as well, good to see the next generation coming through. Hopefully Terry follows in these guys' footsteps and gets his opportunity somewhere as well.
Raffa @ Everton , Stevie @ villa , possible Brendan @ Manu funny old game football
Lot of emotion from us Rangers fans today.
Most are annoyed, angry, disappointed.
Some a really angry.
Steven Gerrard has left the Rangers team in a far better state than he inherited.
We got pride back in our team.
Some of the football and the team goals we scored (especially in Europe) were amongst the best I've seen at Rangers.
He gave us a league title against our biggest and most bitter rivals with absolute style.
A title in which Celtic were going for ten in a row.
Celtic had a more experienced Manager, a bigger season ticket holder fan base, more income, a bigger stadium, a bigger footballing squad, more momentum and the biggest incentive to win a league in a generation.
Stevie overcame all of that to give us that league title.
I'll never forget him for that and I'll always be grateful for it for as long as I live.
I didn't want him to go (though knew he always would) and the timing really stinks.
It's by no mean a certainty that he won't regret this move imho.
Cheers for the memories SG.

He stopped the ten in a row like Celtic did with Wim (whatever happened to him?)
You might be less grateful when he takes Ryan Kent and Morellos with him.

So, what seems like a Gerrard article from the outside is just basically a United obsessed rant
Well done OP, you’ve outdone yourself this time
I think gerrard's taken a risk here, but not by leaving rangers.
No, its joining villa with Purslow in charge. This is the same guy that decided joe cole was messi and LFC had to have him.
when I look at the rengaers perofrmance they peaked last year and would have to now change up to kick on. Celtic are closing in not falling away with the new manager due to a few rangers draws and the europa group is not going well. I think jumping ship now is wise for gerrard.
the risk is whether villa back him properly or if there's board room interference and egos going to ruin it.
villa have a decent squad but probably need 2 or 3 players. No rangers player is good enough to come in there. Villa have decent enough forwards for sure and a couple decent midfielders but I would focus in midfield area first and think about the full backs as well.
You might be less grateful when he takes Ryan Kent and Morellos with him.
------------------------------------------
Not at all.
It'll be disappointing obviously.
Those two players can play at a higher level and they deserve the opportunity to.
I think SG should be buying them and hopefully paying a ridiculous amount of premiership cash form them too
I think it's the least he can do
Can't see him going for either looking at Villas squad. Kent maybe but he's going to struggle to get Watkins, Ings and Buendia in the same side as it is.

Agree with everything except your second last sentence.
Kent and Morelos (at least) could play in any premiership team at AV's level.
Not needing them because they already have players who are similar is not the same as highlighting that the players have the ability to play at that level if someone takes them.
Glen Kamara might not be a bad option for the Villa side. Might not be first choice week in, week out but I think he'd certainly be a good option for them.
No chance he buys Morelos btw, he endured him because he had too but I always had the feeling Gerrard didn’t like him.
Kent, Kamara and Aribo are the only ones I could see him coming for

Kamara is a player who would only get better with more time/space to play his game IMHO
All Villa are doing is paying Slipper G to audition for the Varpool job.
Old Slipper will dump Villa at the drop of a hat when Norbert leaves and Pool`s team of 13 men come calling.
You think Villa don’t know that when they have Christian Purslow as their chief exec?
If he does well and Klopp goes Gerrard will be seen as one of the replacement options.
Big club you see.

We all knew that if AG got a better/Liverpool job that that would have invariably meant that he was successful at Rangers or wherever he ended up.
I could live with that and I'm sure the Villa fans could too
