but surely it's an insane move for Rodgers, given his history with Liverpool? He would probably be fine while they are winning, but the instant they hit a rough patch, the history would come to the fore
----------------------------
I don't really think it would matter. If Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool tomorrow and declared his burning desire to take over at United, you'd be hard-pushed to find a United fan who would be against it. Plus I don't think Rodgers' connection with Liverpool is that strong anyway - if it was Gerrard for instance, there'd be a problem.
I do think he'll be the one we go for, but for what it's worth you'd possibly be taking a step up in getting Potter who I think is a fantastic coach - probably one City and Liverpool are looking at once Pep/Klopp go a few years down the line. I wouldnt mind United going for him now in all honestly, but appreciate it would be a massive gamble.
“marquee manager”
____
Is he in charge of all the big tents at Leicester, then?
Wow..
Gerrard at Villa
Benitez at Everton
Rodgers at Leicester
King Klopp at Liverpool.
I think Rodgers would be daft to leave Leicester right now though , but the Man Utd job will only ever come around once for a manager.
Then don’t hit a rough patch. All jokes aside I think Brendan could do a great job at United.
I’m not convinced about Rodgers at Utd. He’d get us playing good attacking footy but there’s always been big question marks about his teams defending. I’m not convinced it would end well, I’d stay at leicester if I was him.

Yeah his teams generally can't defend. I'd be fine with him going to United for that very reason.
Some of the best football I’ve seen under Rodgers, I think he wood sought for United tbf , stil patchy in Europe though
This is just a bunch but for some reason I feel BR is the man for United right now.
Only noise surround this move I see is the articles on here saying the story is gathering pace but never see a genuine link or source of where it’s coming from.

I would imagine Rodgers should appeal most to the fans who say they don’t mind not winning things as long as there’s great football being played
Currently neither is happening. Ideally both would be happening.

Nothing at all. He just randomly listed a few people with Liverpool links with 1 PL title between them all.
Rodgers would just end up the same as Moyes if he gets the United job. He won't be able to handle managing a big club.
I think it’d be harsh to begrudge him a move to Man Utd, even though I can easily see Tielemans going with him. And it’d be genuinely interesting to see how he did there.
What I would say is that if it is to happen then better sooner than later. Not only could we do without the will he/won’t he distraction, but I’d rather we find a new manager - preferably Graham Potter - so that he has at least half a season to work with, or indeed before he gets snapped up by someone else.
Even as Leicester fans, you have to have noticed a difference between now and when he arrived?
Not a positive difference, A apathetic difference, I think he has a shelf life of 2 years and then players dtart to 'suss' him out. That he is very much self interested and as good a man manager as he pretends to be he is very much all about Brendan.
I don't think he would last at Man Utd but he'd be successful initially and he'd bite your hand off if offered the opportunity.

Yeah that's true. Though I think football is kind of at the stage now where managers tend to only have a shelf life of 2-3 years, unless they are absolutely exceptional. Ole is one of the longest serving managers in the PL now, for example. It's just the way the game is moving.
Of course, as a United fan I hope the next boss can have longevity but it is the exception, rather than the rule in modern football.
I can absolutely see Rodgers wanting the move but I don't think Utd would want a manager that Liverpool have sacked really, it's not a good look imo.

There’s a scarcity of amazing options out there so perhaps Brendan is the best of a not so amazing bunch. Plus while I understand you guys needed to act to get Klopp, it was a bit harsh to sack Rodgers so that, with the good work he’s done since leaving Liverpool might be enough to get him the gig.

There’s definitely an unidentified problem this season, although I’m not in any great rush to get rid of him. Neither would I be overly fussed if he went.
It looks a bit like the players might have lost faith in the management, but I think there’s perhaps a stronger argument that the manager has lost faith in the players. Failing to get top 4 once was a potential step on a path to improvement; failing twice was just plain failure. If we hadn’t picked up the FA Cup last season there would probably be big questions over Rodgers at the top level (one might argue even more so).
I do think we also have an issue with recruitment right now as well - our purchases over the summer weren’t good in general, Daka aside (and even he’s in the “potential” bracket). I think not pushing the boat out for Tarkowski was an error, for instance, given that Evans looks like injuries will end his career soon and Vestergaard just looks cr*p. Whatever else happens, there need to be some serious questions asked there, and that goes back to the buck stopping with Lee Congerton.
Personally I think any half decent could be doing as well if not better as Rodgers has in the last 12 months with the squad we have.
The question is whether we replace him ( When he goes ) with a Hald Decent Manager or like many Clubs have done, the completely wrong one.
