Perhaps WITSS could list all the Championship players who haven't played in the Premier League since its inception, because they haven't been deemed good enough to make the step up; and separately, those who have been signed by Premier League clubs, who, in his opinion, weren't good enough. Could be a couple of interesting lists. 👍

I wish fans could see beyond simply spending money. Many of those calling for spending, have no idea or care of the details, and will quite happily throw money around like confetti.

Everybody said our summer transfer business was a disaster. I look back at our previous times in the Prem, and we could only have dreamed of attracting players from Barcelona, and spending the money we are.

Some fans are even saying Fosun have lost interest and should sell up. I am left shaking my head, and imagine if these people were actually in charge of Wolves and transfers, what a dire state the club would be in.

I am left shaking my head as well. We had 70 m to spend and needed a midfielder and a defender and didn't get them.

Looks like Marcal is fit again now. He has been first choice as the left wing back when available this season, so be interesting to see if Bruno selects him on Saturday

I'll be disappointed if Marcal starts. It don't think he was very good in his last few appearances and is generally poor attacking wise. I don't think he has justified just getting his place back. I'd rather we gave Ait-Nouri the game time as I think he has been good.

Proper old style FA Cup tie on TV tonight, really enjoyed it, Stockport 5 Bolton 3, always a pleasure to see Bolton get stuffed of course but on national telly to a non league side, even better.

Fair play at the end too to the presenter Alex Scott and Don Dublin trying to close out the programme mobbed by hundreds of over excited Stockport fans.

Perhaps as Amiga points out the right deal wasn't available at the time.

Its gonna take some pretty big money to prize either Sanches or Botman away from Lille in January let alone both. Don't see it happening to be honest. If we sell and have 100m+ to spend then maybe I can see us bringing two top players in but if not I think it maybe more ones for the future at best.

Or maybe a couple of players from the Championship? There are many, many examples of players that have made it in the Premier League. Obviously some don’t succeed, but I don’t have a list of them,

Difficult to assess what we’d do with the cash if we had it. Bruno has spouted the old cliche of only wanting players better than what we have but has also said he wants a larger squad. So would he rather have one £30m player or three at £10m

You could argue that three at £10 million would have a better chance of getting a couple of good ones at least.
Spending £30 million+ one player can be a big risk as we well know.

I imagine the aim, as always, would be a bit of both. The nonsensical view that clubs should only buy better is laughable. If that were the case every club in the land would get better and better with each passing season and Man City, Liverpool et al would be unbeatable.

Realistically, how many clubs can buy players that they know (with absolute certainty) are better than the player currently occupying that position? Some players suit systems and tactics better than others.

Clearly, unless your squad is littered with complete garbage (which is unlikely in the Premier League) or you have tens of millions to splash on the worlds top players, you are always going to be taking a risk bringing players in.

He still rents the same property in Tettenhall that he lived in when working as our manager.

Apparently, he told his neighbour when he took the Spurs job that he would be back before Christmas!!

Declan Rice pulled out of the England squad in the week and evidently remains a doubt for Saturday. Be a big miss for the hammers if he doesn’t play. He hasn’t missed a minute of their league games so far this season

Declan Rice been brilliant the last few years and would dominate our midfield. It would be a big boost if he was missing this weekend.
