Shit defending, at least one per game
Sounded like a poor game between 2 relegation candidates.
Not a great week, thank heavens for the u23s
I am going somewhere quiet to be intolerant of failure.
I may be some time. đ

We notice 5hit defending more when we're not scoring though. Could have lost that 4-0 1st half.
The Thompson- Bird- Shin trio been rumbled. It's hard though it's men against boys minus a goalscorer and a massive points deduction.
Positives best I've seen Byrne play. Lots of learning for Festy. Debut for Plange might offer somet, maybe with a faster strike partner alongside.
Plange & Sibley, Plange & Stretton seem to work at the lower level
Planned looks like he's played now all season. đđť

Are you thinking of Hinge and Bracket?
Would ne nice to get Sibley firing. Might be a good substitute combo.
Sorry for failing to support today. Back on all cylinders next game xxx

No Plange for the under 23s tonight which is interesting.....
Yes, I expect a nostalgic and emotional weekend. I haven't seen my mate in over 30 years. How did we lose touch? Some might remember Nobbler who used to occasionally come on here, maybe he still keeps an eye. Nobbler was an Apostle and so was my mate (it's Gange, Nobbler, if you are reading this).
While at Uni I got a couple of tickets to see Tom Waits in London and we drove there in my orange VW beetle. The following week Derby were to play Forest in a League Cup tie and my mate (who was a Coventry fan) made a casual comment that he hoped Forest would win. I refused to let him in the car until he withdrew the remark and we had a comical stand-off in the street outside our student house which lasted a very, very long time. I can't even remember now who, if anyone, gave way but we drove there in silence, saw Tom Waits who was very good indeed, and then drove back in silence. When we got back in touch recently after all this time I mentioned the episode and he claimed to have forgotten it. Nonetheless he gave a full apology (as he should have done thirty years ago) and we have put it behind us. He had better behave himslef tomorrow. He has now switched allegiance to Bristol Rovers and claims he hates Brizzlle City with a passion so hopefully all will be well. I will try to give a match report but I expect I will be having a beer-fuelled trip down memory lane tomorrow evening.

Hi Vidal
Seeing Gange again after all these years? Wow - nice one! Please send my regards.
Are you still in touch with any of the other apostles? Or with The Boro?
BTW I don't think I ever knew Gange's real name, he was always Gange Sassoon as far as I was concerned

Felt sorry for those travelling Derby fans who had to watch that first half. Better second half which suggested that the "false 9" concept should be abandoned. Plange looked distinctly useful so, if we now have strikers, why not play any combo of Stretton, Plange, CKR, Baldock? There is nothing to lose. This possession-based play is not working consistently and causes me endless rises in blood pressure. Derby fans deserve more than one shot on target.
I’ve been thinking.
After the bright performances v Bournemouth and Fulham, I dared to dream, old romantic that I am.
Subsequently I have realised that playing near 40 year olds and expecting kids to perform 100% each game is not sustainable.
The two performances v QPR and Bristol have finally forced me to accept reality. Oh, I know, secretly we all knew what’s gonna happen but now, bow to the inevitable and accept that League 1 beckons, sorry, has already been confirmed.
There, I feel better already.
Step 1 completed.
Exactly my thoughts and feelings too View. Of course a good run of 5 wins might change it ….
'Step 1 completed.'
Are you taking them in reverse order ?
Depression next ?
Its horses for courses though. Pearson chose his well. Weiman on Bird, high pressing of our CB's, wing backs to exploit the spaces left by our flat midfield 3.
Isolated any out ball to our front three, n gave their midfield 2 the space to dictate. I think it was the flatness of the midfield 3 more than the false 9 that was our problem. Shame we couldn't adapt until the changes at half time. Maybe had TL moved deeper n we'd played a diamond. Festy n Knight ahead, that would have freed up our full backs and had TL putting pressure on their central MF.
Or had our midfield three the dynamism to play a rotating triangle. One ahead of the other depending on who the deepest MF is.
These are youngsters though n hindsight is 20/20. I'm not sure we have the squad to choose one dominant Option A against everyone. With an established winger and a number 8 maybe.
I still think we're a match for anyone on our day. We do struggle when given the ball though n challenged to break a solid defence down. Lose our DF shape and ideas very quickly.
The amount of goals we concede from ricochets too. Infuriating either really bad luck or bad positioning/tackling. Whenever we make a desperate lunge for the 2nd ball, 9 times out of 10 bad or very very bad things happen.
A our defence was on the right wen they scored, much like QPR's equaliser.
