If a forum ostensibly for discussing football matters is a misinformation dump can you imagine what middens like Facebook and Twitter are like?

You know who recently confirmed her split from disgraced anti vaxxer Andrew Wakefield?

It was going around a few weeks back that they were linked to vaccines. Then it turned out that the players were all unvaccinated, and had other medical conditions (multiple had covid, which affected them more as they were unvaccinated).

The ridiculous congestion of fixtures is not helping this. And FIFA is pushing for more! No concern for player health.

Anyone who actively promotes anti-vax views or muddies the water in a tongue-in-cheek way is helping nurture an idea that is killing people. It's despicably irresponsible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Idk if this is directed at me but if it is, all I’ve done is highlighted what is becoming a very serious issue. The cause of these health problems are unknown and for that reason every possibility should be considered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you've used the typical tool of the anti-vaxxer, i.e. a bit of innuendo to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt. It's all over twitter. Fake doctors talking about a so called correlation between footballers collapsing and the vaccine - without a shred of evidence that these players are either vaxxed or might be suffering from the effects of COVID. It really is the worst possible science. You simply cannot draw conclusions based upon "what might have been" especially when there are multiple variables involved.

100%

I wish Admin would draw a line on all of this now. I know it’s a lot of work for them, but are new articles enabling the dumping of misinformation appearing every single day at the moment, and it won’t be doing the site any good at all, ignoring the impact that the circulation of such nonsense is having more widely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This one the article, is too subtle to outright bin.

I would encourage everyone to get vaccinated.

Thanks Adders

I know you have an impossible job, and (I’m sure I’m not only speaking for myself here) really appreciate all you do.

Is it because she's age appropriate for me, because she's Australian or because she's no longer a model?

As an aside there is a Nobel prize waiting for who can get to the root cause of the increasing prevalence of severe allergies. In my lifetime it's gone from nobody in me entire school to multiple kids per classroom.

Interesting discussion to be had a round that. From thorough cleanliness from the moments we are born to genetically modified wheat.

Probably not the place for it 😂 as most people argue a side rather than the science/facts.

Incidentally I'm vaxxed, waiting for booster. However I've had two people close to me die due to having the vax and one who has been quite ill for months now die to AZ.

I mention this because if we could get the CT element out of the way and have a sensible discussion on covid vax then I think we would me more informed as individuals.

Unless we're are doing peer reviewed controlled studies the only sensible stance or viewpoint to take is that of the findings of the drug approval bodies. I just can't pretend to be more informed than them.

First, I’m very sorry for your losses.

Can you just confirm please that you’ve had two people close to you die who have had the cause of death on their death certificates listed as one of the COVID-19 vaccines?

What was the mechanism through which the vaccine caused their deaths in those cases?

Yeah I do agree with that admin. For most of us it's about getting the best information we can.

My background is health and development and I'm personally cautious of drug approval bodies based on my own experience and information, that's not google and FB etc.

I've, in the past, had to put my foot down for certain things for my disabled son, for example. Where they wanted to administer certain medicine or for him even the flu vax. I didn't allow it and it was the right decision. However my decision was based on advice from a Canadian and american doctor who are authorities in his disability. Most people don't have that access and the UK "experts" are way behind and use people with this disability as guinea pigs to their detriment (the patient that is).

With the current vaccines I know of the issues with AZ but also there are issues with the others too. You have to be a small minority to get the bad effects or death however it has happened and I think some simple checks before hand would have helped.

One was mum Rosso. About 8 months ago. She had the AZ jab and suffered a stroke through bloodclots. A day before they banned it for under 40's. I also have a close friend who had the AZ and has had a stroke and has issues with blood clots which he is currently getting attention for.

The other person is my cousins brother in law. He was 26 and died as a result of heart a few days after he had the jab. I believe it was an underlying issue that hadn't been picked up, with his heart. That is why I say some simple tests before having a jab may be what's needed for everyone? Don't know if that's viable or would change anything.

As I say though is till would say have the vaccine and have had it myself. After my mum's death too.

The numbers are small and most won't see or know anyone having died but for those of us who may have it's not simply being antivax. Maybe just questions?qune emotions? Many reasons I guess but the questionarises of what if...

Possibly people do not get the chance to build up a natural immunity any more. When I was a kid it was almost expected that you would get measles, mumps, chicken pox, rubella. If any of us three kids caught one of them we were all lumped into bed together to make sure the others caught it and got it over and done with as those illnesses can be more severe in adults. Also it meant only 4 occasions when Mum had to nurse us instead of a possible 12. I suppose if you do that nowadays there will be some moron wanting to have Mum charged with assault for "causing unnecessary harm" and call in Social Services. My Mother was a qualified nurse so she knew what she was doing.

That’s incredibly unfortunate given the figures: the biggest study I believe undertaken yet shows with AZ there are 8.1 adverse events per million people after first dose. (Those numbers drop to the same as the background population for the second dose.)

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2109908

It likely won’t be of any consolation to you or your family, but it’s important to remember and to restate that the risk of developing blood clots, regardless of underlying preconditions, is much greater when contracting COVID-19 than being vaccinated with any of the vaccines.

This isn’t an antivax article. What a ludicrous assumption. Where is the intellectual curiosity? Debate is allowed and so is free speech?

Every single potential cause for the issues highlighted should be examined. We were discussing today about how a 23 year old took the Johnson vaccine and 2 days later after repeated migraines died of a brain hemorhage. Whether it was the vaccine or not is debatable but you have to investigate all variables.

There is a risk to everything and not highlighting it is politics and negligence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That is called an anecdote, and it describes correlation, not causation.

As Admin rightly pointed out above, what we should be interested in and fully focused on are the data, and peer-reviewed studies published in reputable journals analysing that data.

Not heresay and speculation.

This worry/fear for me is we seem to be at a place as a society where we pick a side and then stick with it. Not everything is black or white. There are often grey areas.

I'm no doctor or scientist but work and life has given me certain experiences where my starting point isn't doctors/science/health bodies know best. That's not to say I know better or that they are always wrong. I've been fortunate to know personally certain people who are authorities on certain areas in medicine. They don't always agree. And I've seen first hand where the disagreement has been devastating to an individual.

I'm involved in an interesting discussion currently on statins. And right at this moment I wouldn't rush to take them of my cholesterol was at 4.5 or 5. My doctor disagrees with me but a few others don't.

I'm not saying I'm right just that these discussions are not something everyone will be involved in. I think I've been lucky to get into them. And they aren't with your average Joe but leading people in Canada america and the UK.

I do have medical professionals in my family too which also is an avenue to see where they agree and disagree

I understand that Rosso. I also understand that these cases are tiny. 10 months ago I didn't personally know of anyone with covid or any effects. Now I've lost a few friends and my mum from it (even though mum never caught covid just the jab). I've had it. My dad's had it and some of my siblings too (we didn't suffer much and it was pretty mild tbf).

I think some of my views aren't even based on covid tbh. Just different experiences from friends and family with other medicines or treatments.
