Unless I missed it, it doesn't say who is taking on the captaincy, any idea?
Arsenal are a club in shambles. That’s two captains stripped of their captaincy in a row. Since Henry leaving, we’ve not really had a stable or good captain either. 15 damn years!
No doubt Auba will continue to play like Xhaka did though. What are the chances Xhaka will get it back as well to make the club look even worse?
Hopefully the next captain will be picked for his character rather than his age or his salary.

Ramsdale or Tierney then

I'd back both of those, and throw in Smith-Rowe too. Too often the captaincy _seems_ to be given to our most valued (or expensive) player to encourage them to sign another contract, rather than anything they might bring to the table.

Henry was hardly stable or good captain either. He barely played in the 2nd of his 2 seasons as captain, and many questioned his attitude and the affect it had on the team.
I think Ben White will get it, btw. English, brought for the long term, praised for his influence in the dressing room.
Wouldn't want a 'keeper having it. Tierney, maybe, but a bit injury prone. ESR? Not for me.
Gabriel?
I like Ramsdale but not keepers as captains.

Ramsdale, Tierney for me.
Im sure there will be loads of takers for a 32 year old in poor form with poor discipline and on £350k a week

Dunno, I know of a striker who has scored a quarter of the PL goals Auba has this season, who was rated at over £150m a couple of months ago...

Newcastle United ?
The chance to play alongside Callum Wilson
Ramsdale, not for me. Needs someone to calm him down at times, and his over-exuberance isn't necessarily a good quality for a captain.
We need to have a proper definition and criteria of the captain we want as a club. It doesn't have to be the best player. It must be someone who is obviously a guaranteed starter, has a brilliant understanding and analysis of the game in both attack and defence, and is a very good communicator and motivator and marshalls his players well. Vieira was our best captain in the PL era. Auba lacked several captaincy qualities. My choice wd be between White, Magalhaes and Ramsdale.
Tony Adams was by far and away our best captain of the PL era.

I’ll always have love for Aubameyang for what he’s done for the club, but he hasn’t been leading by example for a while now. Just because something’s a difficult decision, doesn’t mean it’s not the right decision. Give it to Laca til the summer I reckon.
