Pet hate? People who cant accept the CHOICE to have or not have the vaccine...any vaccine btw.

As far as i was aware we all have A CHOICE to put into our own bodies what we want.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course you have that choice. But you don't have the right to pass on a virus because of your choice.
Which is why vaccine passports are a good thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even though the vaxxed can still pass it on? You surprise me tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes they can, but it is less likely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Less likely? So why are the majority of Covid hospitalisations currently double/treble vaxxed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This could be for a few reasons. One could be that a very high percentage of the country is vaccinated. So even if you had an exact 50:50 split of vaccinated and unvaccinated in hospital, you’d already be tending towards the conclusion that vaccinations were helping. Then I’d also imagine that a lot of vaccinated people who end up in hospital are very old and/or vulnerable, where even the effect of a vaccine doesn’t help enough. Those groups are largely vaccinated. The government did predict back in spring that a winter wave would see more vaccinated people in hospital for precisely this reason.

I see a lot of people crowing about how vaccines haven’t worked etc but they totally overlook one thing that appears hard to avoid: if things are bad now, they would be a lot worse without the vaccines.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

70% of the poluation is vaccinated. A large portion that aren't will be kids, who don't suffer as bad. So no surprise that there are more hospitalisations of people double/triple jabbed
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But the majority are not in for Covid.
So was it worth shutting the world for a disease that is clearly not as bad as it's portrayed to be for the majority of us?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So the stage is yours. What do you propose happens?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Open up or regret it forever.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

You are opened up? Stadiums jam packed, shops packed, bars packed.

I find people wearing masks in their cars while they're on their own very silly but I guess they're not doing any harm!

Covidiots would describe the Tory government on repeat
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How the hell do they smell where they are going if they're wearing a mask?? Asking for a friend. My friend is a dog.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I used to wear a proper mask at work, big one that we had to get tested in before use which apparently kept out all but approximately 0-4 of the 20,000 or so small particles floating around you at any time.

Despite this you could smell a fart through it, in fact I'd honestly say you could more clearly smell a fart than when you weren't wearing it.

We never did do the particle testing with someone farting next to us, shame.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Can. Like how people who aren’t drunk can still crash cars, people who don’t smoke can develop lung cancer etc. But if vaccinated people are less likely to get Covid, then they’re by extension less likely to pass it on. And they’re certainly less likely to end up in ICU if they do get it. So though I don’t like the idea of passports for a few reasons, there is a cold logic about spreading these probabilities across a population.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vaxxed people aren't less likely to get Covid. This information is available to all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But they are far less likely to die
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But that's their risk. Their choice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well it is until they end up in hospital clogging up vital space and time and interfering with other sick people getting help(something you covid/vax deniers have gone on about for an age).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They're not clogging up hospitals though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course they are. Anyone in hospital with Covid and unvaxxed is a cant, pure and simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because they don't agree with your view? Grow up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No, because their stupidity has put them in hospital and put unnecessary strain on the health service, this isn't complicated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah. So if they don't comply with your way of thinking they are stupid?

People still have free choice. If they don't want to stick the vaccine in their body that is their decision. And they still have access to the NHS same as anyone else. Including people who choose to posion their bodies by smoking. Or taking drugs. Or drinking themselves to death.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

As someone who will be booking his booster this weekend, I’ll try to field a few:

1) Some people have always been anti-vaxxers, convinced that vaccines cause autism, allergies etc. This pandemic is simultaneously their day in the sun and their worst nightmare. Some also disagree on religious grounds.

2) For some people, vaccine = government. So if they don’t like the government, they won’t take the vaccine. An absurdly simplistic viewpoint if you ask me.

3) Some are not in the main risk group and may not know a single person who’s had Covid, or not seriously. To make things worse, they might have a healthy acquaintance who died suddenly a short while after a jab. Of course, it will often be unrelated, but it will play on their minds. These are the group with whom I sympathise the most.

That’s three reasons I can think of quickly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good effort Clockwork, only the last of the three would give me pause for thought, but not be long.

Longer time period when infectious. If you aggregate that in a world where nobody's vaccinated you've got exponentially higher transmissability.

As it is, it's just the selfish tw#ts that won't wear masks or get vaccinated, thankfully, and that's not everyone.

How is someone not being vaccinated harmful to others?
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I do think ‘the vaccinated’ sometimes simplify this, and it irritates me a little when I see someone write: ‘Well, I certainly wouldn’t want to sit next to an unvaccinated person in a cinema/on a plane etc’. I’m not sure that’s the issue - as I’ve said, I see it as a longer-term thing.

I used the analogy yesterday of two offices - let’s call them office A and B.

Each office has 20 people in it - a mix of ages, weights, genders, races and a similar proportion with similar ‘underlying conditions’. The only major difference between the two offices is that office A has only vaccinated people in it and B only unvaccinated.

A single person in each office goes in with Covid. I’d guess in most scenarios that office A would deal far better - certainly in terms of hospitalisations and deaths. So if you replicate office A’s results across a population, you may see a massive difference. That’s how I understand it. As I’ve said, I’m far from an expert.

(And if anyone wants to call me a ‘fascist’ because yOu WaNt EvErYoNe To Be ThE sAmE - please don’t bother. I have no time for that level of stupidity )

A lot of the Covidiot crowd fall into the antagonist/contrarian camp. They are, unfortunately, far more numerous than I thought.

This is from a pre-Covid and America focused article but I think it's very relevant to the pandemic (and Brexit too, for that matter):

'Perhaps the most important interaction in the world today, however, is that between antagonism and populism. The core feature of populism is an anti-establishment message and a focus on the central importance of the people. The anti-establishment message portrays the political elite as corrupt and evil, and disinterested in the interests of "the pure people."'

3. There are other proven medications that work that are far far cheaper yet they aren't mentioned let alone used.
4. The adverse reactions are NEVER mentioned.
5. (Should possibly be the first) Any alternate view is never given air-time, it's always quashed despite the evidence. When has debate within our 'betters' ever not existed?

I don't see people dying anywhere i go, and looking after 4 oldies (80+yrs old) i do a lot of shopping, have had many trips to hospitals/doctors in the past two years and have come to a simple conclusion. We're being scammed, pure and simple.

I wouldn’t spit an office B worker if s/he was on fire
