Even though the vaxxed can still pass it on? You surprise me tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can. Like how people who aren’t drunk can still crash cars, people who don’t smoke can develop lung cancer etc. But if vaccinated people are less likely to get Covid, then they’re by extension less likely to pass it on. And they’re certainly less likely to end up in ICU if they do get it. So though I don’t like the idea of passports for a few reasons, there is a cold logic about spreading these probabilities across a population.

I had colleagues returning from India when the Delta variant was in the media. They said it wasn't that bad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is your argument against the accuracy of reporting of Covid deaths.?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not an argument. It's empirical evidence if you like. Thailand was another country. When it was starting many Chinese ran to Thailand. No spread... until a year later. That doesn't raise any possibility of questioning for you? OK.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many colleagues? Just trying to gauge the sample size of your empirical research.
Can't figure out the conspiracy. On the one hand Tux and co are telling us that 'they' just want to control the masses BUT on the other they seem to be suggesting that 'they' want to poison us with bad drugs. Which is it, alive or dead?
Tux is here, yawn.

Everyone should have the vaccine because why would govts lie?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course they lie. Sometimes though, what they want is the same as what we want: an end to the pandemic.
The vaccine is not the government, and vice versa. In the UK, in fact, I would wager that vaccine uptake is highest among people whose trust in the government is lowest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because govts aren't corrupt and certain companies and people aren't making a huge amount of money. 😉
I'm not convinced. Let's face it, modern politics around the world is bloody awful. Payoffs and self serving is the name of the game today. I'd love to think you are right, but I'm far from convinced.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just for clarity, you think every government round the world wants Covid to continue indefinitely?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not saying that at all. But, I am saying it's not so ridiculous that govts around the world want to exploit covid for their own benefits.
The Oxford vaccine is a good example. Prior to having the vaccine Oxford said it would give everyone the right to produce it. Then Gates stepped in and made it exclusive. So, was it a global disaster or not?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Incumbent governments worldwide have seen ratings plummet since the first lockdowns: US, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Korea, Spain, Canada, Netherlands …
Hasn’t really worked for them if that was plan, has it?

Tbh...im not pro vax OR Anti vax. Its a risk management choice for the individual; for instance lets say your 70yrs old with health issues...id probably advise get the jab.
However if your a 30yr old healthy bloke...the ONS suggest you dont need it looking at the data cross ref with age etc.
I do like this though..." if i don't get vaccinated i know 100% i wont suffer any adverse reactions and i have a 99.97% of surviving C19...i damn well like those odds"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It isn’t a risk management choice for many individuals.

It's easy to give numbers to frighten people. How many die from other stuff? Alcohol is linked to 3 million deaths a year
—————
It’s a simple point, but alcoholism isn’t contagious and doesn’t double every few days if you let it. Neither do road accidents, heart attacks and cancer. I always think the ‘what about other causes of death’ is an odd route for people to go down when discussing Covid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Covid isn't the largest cause of death currently. No doubt something you'll just sweep under the carpet eh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, you would if it was, so…
And whatever it is, I don’t see anybody dying of it when I go to Tesco, so I’m inclined to think you’ve been had.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What do they die of when you go to Tesco?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing, usually (though Asda is carnage). But TUX has said repeatedly that there can’t be a pandemic killing so many people because he never sees anyone dying of Covid, so unless he’s seeing people die of this other cause quite regularly, I’m struggling to see why he would trust those figures and not Covid deaths.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe because numbers can be made up? The media is a sack of shiete. We all know that. I had colleagues returning from India when the Delta variant was in the media. They said it wasn't that bad. 🤷♂️ That's not to say truths aren't in it. But things can easily get distorted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But then we get into that territory of: why exaggerate Covid deaths? And for every theory that says someone is doing that, there’ll be another to say that official death figures are probably way below actual ones.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. So how can anyone be so sure they are right? I think the most rational is to conclude we don't really know. We are given info from both sides. We just pick, literally (😂) pick, the side we think is more reliable, BUT we don't know if it is. 🤷♂️
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The most rational is to judge all of the evidence considering its weight, source, and verifiability.
Not judge the anecdotal evidence of Barry the Disgruntled Fishmonger on YouTube to be of equal value as the scientific consensus of the world’s leading epidemiologists, virologists, public health scientists, and intensive care specialists backed by 18 months of billions of data points analysed across tens of thousands of pages of peer reviewed scientific papers.

Its interesting this conversation.
It’s a matter of collective social responsibility.

What are the stats of people dying after having the vaccine? Is it nearly 5.4m, or is it less?
Just trying to work out which is more dangerous, the virus or the vaccine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbh...we dont know how dangerous the vaccine is...its only a year old and still in its trial period until 2023 i think
I "suspect" its fine...but the cold hard facts are..we actually do not know yet!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wha-wah... misinformation. The Covid vaccines aren't in their trial period and have been approved for use. It's standard practice for safety monitoring to continue after a vaccine has been approved for use.
There's some amount of shiiit spread around that just gets hoovered up and regurgitated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Approved for Emergency Use Only and still under trial until 20123.
And you talk about ''misinformation''!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you OK with them if they’ve been given full approval then? I mean, if you’re such a stickler for the rules?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was never for them in the first place and given the side effects then no.

What side effects? Your arm hurts for a day and you get a short bout of feeling poorly for a day.
Not dissimilar to the traditional flu jab, in fact.

What I meant was that Pfizer has full FDA approval. I was just wondering if your views on it had changed since August, when that was granted.

I think a lot of it starts with fear of needles, and they build an elaborate post rationalisation around that, then buy into the fringe theories as validation.
