The lack of depth in our squad has been exposed today

Fair play to boro. Better team for most of the game. But we were poor. Need to lift it for the next game, and have a good window.

Worst decision by Cooper sign so far - including Carvalho in the squad - the guy should be let anywhere near 1st team football - even if it means playing with 10 men - the guy is a total liability

Only got to see the second half, but we can have no complaints. Zinc’s missed an absolute sitter at one nil, could have changed the game. Taylor and Carvalho need getting moved on in Jan they are awful. Far too many miss placed passes, Johnson also had a bit of a mare. Unfortunately we’ll have performances like that, the object now is to bounce back. Don’t personally see why they need Spence back, I’m not sure he’d get into their team. First away defeat under Steve, had to come some time. Let’s see how we do against ‘udders.

There are others we need to offload; not necessarily next months but at least by the start of next season. Carvalho is one but there are others being paid to spend most of their time in the treatment room: Mbe Soh, Lolley, Ely. And some who will be too old Grabban, Taylor.

We have the basis of a play off team if not this season then next with two or three quality signings and loans. Samba, Worrall, McKenna, Yates, Colback, Johnson are all consistently good enough . WBs and a 20 goal striker are needed.
Murphy and Cooper can do it if given the backing.

The problem Red it’s always NEXT season, we always seem to mess it up. I have more faith in the current regime than I’ve had for a while, though it did take time for that belief to materialise. We need to push on this season, the league is so weak it’s the best chance for ages. Next season we may have Newcastle and Norwich to compete against.

I agree dave - the excuses that ‘next season’ or ‘time to gel’ which get used don’t really cut it with me - we must do all we can to do what we can here and now

Besides building a team for next season always seems to be like a false hope, partly because we don’t know who’s going around next season - with so much transfer movement we could lose half current team and we’ll be back to square 1 saying the new team needs time to gel

I think we must do all we can to get into the playoffs this season and hope we can then kick on

I don’t think teams like Blackpool and others used the excuse of building a team for next season before pushing for the PL - the went all out and got themselves there

There’s a £100M payday for any team that manages to get themselves up there

Cooper has done a magnificent job so far - but today has shown just how think our squad is and just exactly where we need to strengthen if we’re going to seriously challenge
