Quite simply he was the best available manager in world football at the time, he was/is/always will be miles better than both Nuno and Ole, and we were did the right thing acting quickest.

We will finish top 4, I’m certain of that, Conte will find a way.

He is a star manager. We should have got him in to begin with instead of messing about and then reluctantly getting Nuno. The fact that Levy already did that probably tells you it's not going to be very longterm and could easily end up going tiits up after a few windows. But if he can at least do well short term then I guess it's a successful appointment comparative to what came before.

Levy needs to make up for the absolute mess he has made of everything since the day he sacked Poch. He has to give conte what he wants or I think the spurs fans will lynch him.

Always made me laugh when United fans said they didn't want him based on him being a defensive coach....have they seen their team the last 9 years? Hell, even during the last couple of years under Fergie they were pragmatic.
Conte is a winner and exactly what they needed. They also had a squad that fit how he likes to play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A Lot if United fans wanted Conte to come in and shake the whole squad up as he has done at Spurs it was the board who didn’t have the balls to appoint him.

He has a proven track record of delivering success and dealing with the dressing room ego’s, it was a fantastic appointment for Spurs and May well now get them top 4. The crunch with Levi will inevitably come but at the moment he is making Spurs relevant and uniting the club the complete opposite of what is happening at United.

That was the P45 challenge cup.

Spurs lost the battle but will win the war.

Glad we stopped scoring when we did…

There does seem to be less and less real top quality managers available these days. Mostly managers are just on a merry go round of clubs, after a year or two, they either get sacked, or move on. Not much stability at any club really as regards managers.

Modern fans Sandy, took Fergie 4 seasons to get going - which manager gets that sort of time anymore. Klopp finished 8th in his first season. Pep got battered 4-0 at Everton in his first season.

You shouldn’t be patient with every manager as some are just unsuitable - Nuno for instance. However, others need to be - Arteta is suddenly looking okay, Moyes is doing a good job.

You have to look at modern players, too. They're more responsible for getting managers sacked than the fans.

The issue is, there are more and more clubs with aspirations that require a top manager. A lot of opportunity for some of these younger coaches over the next few years.

this.
fans can moan and protest all they want and unless they all stop going to games they cant do much.
players on the other hand quite often down their tools.

I think Paratici probably had a big impact in us getting Conte. A compatriot, someone he has worked with before and I'd hope this would smooth any wrinkles between manager and Board, particularly if the Board really are to listen to and take the advice of the DoF. The dual voices of the DoF and the top class Conte must be a compelling thing, and the Board must know the possible fallout from any serious disagreement might be Conte walking away.

We probably have the best setup we've ever had, from the academy, through to the training pitch to the manager and the DoF. You'd hope that the Board would do everything in their powers and a bit more to deliver what is needed/asked for on the football side.

Surely it cannot be lost on the Board that some decent buying now could secure UCL which is worth between £60-90m to the club, as well as securing the services of Kane & others into the future. Its tough in January but a couple key buys could be the difference.

Levy will try to deliver what is required to achieve a place in the CL, as that is all ENIC are bothered about. They won`t be delivering what is required to compete to win the PL or to win regular trophies, they will leave us 2 or 3 players short like they always do and expect the manager to over achieve.

On the flip side, we now have Conte, who is very capable, also there is no guarantee spending a lot of money will bring success (see Man United). The club needs to trust Conte`s judgement and spend wisely on players he wants, and shift players he does not want.

Interesting times ahead, and make or break for Levy and ENIC, mess up again and the fans will turn big time.

I am convinced that without him we wouldn't have Conte. Paritici has therefore already justified his role at the club, for that move alone.

I agree. I hope Conte employs a degree of realism in his demands, and no doubt there would have been conversations about what is realistic at the start.

We are now in a different phase as a club. The infrastructure investment is behind us. The revenues are coming in and we are in a growth phase. It is new territory for us and like you say, interesting times.

There is scope in the wages to increase these. If you look at the new WHL, pre-covid finances, then there are big profits to be made and spent.

What is encouraging is that Levy is not shy of spending big on the right player - £42m on Sanchez, £55 NDombele, £50m on Romero. They all fitted the right bracket of talented but young. Sure not all worked out but the money was spent and at the time we were all delighted. Combine this with a careful approach to more 'complete' players, those coming to the end of contracts etc, where you can get better value and we can move forward in a balanced way that looks after the now and the future.

Hopefully Paratici will see us avoid some of the costly poor buys of the past.

It did amuse me a bit when sections of Spurs fans (and United fans) didn't want him thinking it was another Mourinho.

I get it. There's definite similarities/you'll see them profoundly when he wants out... but Conte's actually good

I'm so nervous tonight. At Chelsea he always upped his game when he had a point to prove, the players were just more up for it, and though he won't admit it I'm sure he'd love to crush us.
