Do any other countries have this much pathetic WhoHaa when it comes to VAR?
I’m sure we have to be the worse at interpreting this tech.

Tbf in Spain and Italy I think every time the ball hits a hand it's handball. Or at least it used to be. I find that interpretation equally inadequate.

A few years ago was an automatic yellow as well, even when accidental on the basis it was too hard to tell what was accidental and what not.

Not sure the latest interpretation there - thionk they toned it down cos too many were getting reds for fack all?

You could well be right on that. I think in Italy it's still a pen for any kind of ball to hand contact in the box. But that's just from hearing it mentioned on podcasts, rather than actually watching the matches!

And yeah it was an automatic yellow in Spain for handballs in the past

And now we gonna get bantered, cos no else will give a damn until it happens to them. I could take it on the chin, but this leaves a bitter taste.
I mean we’ve been here before with Portsmouth.
Incredible game, how we didn’t win that I’ll never know.
Carrick missed the ball on the line I think.
So you say, it’s one of those days. This was slightly different in that we were so comfortable. Even when it was 1-1, I felt we were gonna win, then towards the end you could see they weren’t thinking anymore.
scared to commit. That’s not the UTD way.
Attack dammit.
But here we are….. man I’m outta here.

Definitely fair. I'm still incensed by the handball call last night and still feel that there was nothing natural about moving his arm out in that manner to control the ball.

BUT to miss that many chances and contrive to get eliminated was Spursy in the extreme

The handball was ridic' - lead directly to the goal

shouldn't stand

What I got problem with is the pundits saying it would have been handball had he scored himself. Handball is handball, regardless what the player does after that

Yeah that's a daft caveat to the rules, where a goal scorer is punished disproportionately to any other player on the pitch for the same offence.

We don't want to go back to the simpler but over-punitive 'every hand ball is an offence' interpretation though so we have to allow for some subjectivity plus the goal scorer rule as protection. The downside is rare instances like last night.
