De Niro is better by some way imo. Pacino, though great in some films (Serpico, The Godfather) is often so over the top he borders on hammy.
De Niro has screwed his legacy though over the last 20 years. A shame really, as for a while he was (literally) untouchable.
Personally think Heat is overrated. Maybe I need to give it another try though.

Both were awful in Irishman too.
Al Pacino has always been the GOAT though.
Both outstanding. Both 2 of my favourite actors of all time, but Al Pacino just shades it for me but only just. The Godfather is the greatest film of all time though so maybe I’m a little biased

Sorry but I’ve got to agree - soooooo over acted and over the top! Both actors are up there with the best with some of their film performances, but Heat isn’t it for either - not sure if that’s their fault or the films.
Watched Godfather Part 2 the other day.
De Niro was good but Pacino was outstanding as Michael Corleone.

I think Vito flashbacks in the godfather 2 is the best part of the whole trilogy so I will go with de niro.
I really can’t decide. I’ve always thought De Niro but Pacino has been involved in some of the best scenes ever imo
It’s the only movie they have both ever been in together so asking which is the better actor is basically asking which is your fav child.
Some will have the godfather and others will have the deer Hunter as a base but let’s face it Sean Penn is the goat when it comes to being an actor of repute.
Think fookers and that god awful blind man movie that Pacino did to prove that they were nothing but one dimensional when in their autumn years of “acting”
