I get that but I'd rather the greatest be labelled the greatest for what they achieve on the pitch/court/track because they faced the best at the time and not allow 'politics' away from the/any sport to have an impact on my achievement.

I mean, you always wanna put your best foot forward? I'm not sure if having someone like him being the face of the game is the best thing for the game, whereas it's nearly impossible to dislike Nadal.

I mean Novak wouldn't even be where he was today if it wasn't for modern medicine and nutrition so it seems weird to me that he'd draw the line here, but he's always been pretty extreme and if he'd rather be a martyr than a tennis player then good luck to him

There's a big difference between proven medicine and experimental. That's the choice he's made i guess and given the data then he's no threat to anyone other than himself.
If i were Rafa i'd be annoyed tbh.

Who pulled out with heart issues?

Either he lied about having covid or he was going around visiting people with covid.

That plus being the catalyst for protests and it's pretty easy to see how he can be deemed a healthy and safety risk to the public
