I think we’re seeing in Europe how poor Italian sides are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought Inter were very good against Liverpool the other day and could easily have drawn that game. Juventus won a CL group with an English side in it and Atalanta gave us a run for our money twice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But they didn’t did they and will likely get well beaten at Anfield. We were dreadful for 45 mins against Atalanta and still should have went in level. When we actually played decent they couldn’t cope. Fair enough on Juve but I’d bet good money they’ll get nowhere near the CL trophy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think there's much argument. Serie A has been really really poor for 5 or 6 years now. Longer if you ignore a pretty good Juve team 7 or 8 years ago. The performance of that league in Europe has been consistently awful. And Lukaku's vastly superior record in that league stacks up with that
The French league is as good as Serie A nowadays, to be fair.

Of course it is. One was a league game against a struggling Chelsea of little consequence. The other was a cup final.
Also Chelsea beat Juve 4-0 without Lukaku and lost 1-0 with him.
This is fun.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He also won a tight game against Zenit on his own which gave them 3 points they may not have gotten without him. His European scoring record isn’t actually that bad over the years - 38 in 68 games
‘On his own’ means scored a header from nine yards.
Yeah that’s a decent record, I’ve never denied he’s good in the Europa League.

13 in 26 CL games though 😉
And Monchengladbach, CSKA and Zenit are incredibly embarrassed by that.
I think you should pay out on our bet early robb.

Don’t forget the goals against Seville and PSG.

I might have to 😂
Chelsea will sign Haalamad and Lukakau will end up at spurs to replace Kane. Conte will such him off everyday to keep him happy for 1.5 years, then a new manager will come and lukaku will be a crybaby again.
Sounds like most Chelsea fans don’t particularly like him and would be happy to sell.
I think he’s a very good striker, but mentally he’s just so fragile which is a huge flaw for a striker at a big side. The fact he often talks about how isn’t only infuriates fans more.
I bet 5 of the touches were miscontrol
Knew he’d fine his feet after leaving United

We won't sign Haaland. We refuse to work with his agent.
No club is going to turn their nose up at Haaland because of Raiola.

In fairness to Lukaku they’re not setting up to get the best out of him. He’s not a target man and they play him like one. He’s better running onto through balls rather than being alone up top and waiting for service.
This says it better than I

This is laughably embarrassing. Quit while you are miles behind Robb. You are wrong about Lukaku and you always have been. Keep holding that massive L
- Romelu Lukaku had just seven touches against Crystal Palace, the fewest in a single Premier League game for a player with 90+ minutes played since this data is available in full for the competition (2003-04). One of those touches was from kick-off in the first half. Quiet
—----------------
Bt sport mentioned this yesterday afternoon... At half time they stated 2 touches in the first half, one being kick off
Seems he had a better second half
Not that we can mock much..... Brighton game we didn't win a single tackle first half
Scored a quality goal in the WCC final last week...but needs to do this more.
Watched MOTD earlier....they did a good analysis of Lukaku's movement (or startling lack of it) into goal scoring or ball receiving spaces,
The consensus was that they obviously don't practice this in training as half of the time players chose not to put him in or he didn't ask for the ball forcefully enough, - which it has to be said was justified
of his two touches in the first half....one of them was the kick off
astounding stat in any football match
Embarassing statistic. I'm guessing Timo Werner wasn't available to replace him at half time.
The team and manager also have to take some blame.
To go 45mins with 1 touch of the ball in open play is one hell of an achievement

Yeah you really have to put the effort in to avoid the ball that much
Still don't understand why Chelsea went for him.

Roman said he wanted Chelsea to show themselves to be a footballing heavyweight. But Tuchel misheard and signed him a footballing heavyweight
In fairness to Lukaku, Tuchel et al, Chelsea were flying before they lost two of their most important players for the season. I’m sure they’d be far closer to City than they are had they stayed fit.
