Alexander Mitrovic scored his 33rd goal of the season tonight to set a new record for the championship, What makes that record remarkable though is that Fulham still have 14 games to play

--------
you know how Walsall used to be too good for league one but not good enough for the championship

Mitrovic and Fulham are the embodiment of that for champ to prem

----------------------------------------------------------------------

This will make it

champo
prem
champo
prem
champo
prem

Feel for Mitrovic though, still think he is better than his prem record would suggest. Playing for a poor side each time doesn't help at all.

I suppose a European place has to be the ambition now although two defeats this week would make that difficult. Two wins would almost make it probable. But I’d certainly settle for one win out of the two. West Ham and Arsenal are both 2 points above us right now but Arsenal have played a game less than us, whereas West Ham have played two games more. 5th and 6th both mean Europa league qualification so unless we got to 4th it wouldn’t really matter whether we finished 5th or 6th...."

Not so fast DJ. The two spots for the Europa League are for the FA Cup winners and the 5th placed team. The one spot for the Conference goes to the EFL Cup winners. That's between Chelsea and Liverpool (the latter at least will be in the Champions League for sure.)

It's too early to calculate who will be in what competition until the finals of all the cups have been decided.

It is possible for us to finish 7th and get at least a Conference spot, if other scenarios work for us.

Chelsea will certainly be top four, seen a few suggest it isn't certain but not really sure why, they have only lost three all season, they aren't suddenly going to collapse, especially given the shambles behind them in the table.

I would really be surprised if the top four isn't LIverpool, City, Chelsea and United. Would also be surprised if Arsenal are not top six.

The 'battle' looks like being Wolves, West Ham and Spurs for sixth and seventh.

Not sure what kind of spanner in the works Leicester winning the conference league would bring up.

West Ham are looking a little shaky and you have to hope Europe is going to really start giving them some grief and maybe the Zouma backlash isn't helping.

Wonder how many Wolves fans have signed up to Amazon prime for the short term just so they can watch todays game. If supporters of every team do the same it’s probably a good money spinning investment by Amazon

Interesting to look at the win draw and lose records of the Premier League as we move towards the final third of the season. A look at Wolves goals scored and conceded record makes it clear we are where we are primarily because of how tight we have been defensively. But when teams set up that way they normally end up with loads of draws as they frustrate the opposition. Yet Wolves have only drawn 4 of the 24 games played.

We have won 12 and drawn 4
Brighton have won 7 and drawn 12
Southampton have won 7 and drawn 11
Palace have won 6 and drawn 11

Clear from that these other teams set up with avoiding defeat as the priority. Whereas for Wolves the way we play is proving to be our most effective way of finding wins

Don't know how many friends and relatives Max Kilman has in Ukraine, but there has to be a question over whether he will be in the right frame of mind to play a football match tonight

I too have wondered how what is going on in the Ukraine, is affecting his mindset. I can't imagine he is not thinking about it.

The winners of the 2021–22 UEFA Europa Conference League will automatically qualify for the 2022–23 UEFA Europa League group stage, unless they manage to qualify for the 2022–23 UEFA Champions League group stage.

So if Leicester win the Conference League, we'll have them, the FA Cup winners and the 5th paced team in the Europa League next season.

Couldn't blame Max if he didn't want to play tonight.

Must be difficult for Max. His father is Russian and his mother is from Ukraine and he speaks Russian. Not sure where his parents live at the moment.

Er, I thinks that's the general idea...

I thought Max lost his father last year, I think his family brought him up in London but I guess he must have extended family in Russia and Ukraine. Its a very concerning time for all of is but massively more so if you have family over there.

Been on Amazon now for a few years, the football is just an occasional bonus. Fed up with Sky though, less footie, no cricket, no golf, no rugby, but plenty of American rounders and throw a ball every 20 minutes and about 10 minutes of action in 4 hours.
Seriously dropping Sky and going to BT Sport.

I actually really like the football coverage Amazon do. I think they do it really well. Would love to see them do more.

Problem with amazon is the 3 minute delay

Hwang in place of donk in a 343

Wonder which one of the dirty feckers will be sent off tonight. My money is on Xhaka,

Xhaka is the safe bet

I'll go with Ben White

Hope to see more from Hwang tonight, thought he was poor in games leading up to his injury

Pleased to see no Smith Rowe in the Arsenal team. Looks a great prospect. Arsenal don’t seem to have anyone on the bench to lift them so if we can keep them at bay in the first hour they could well run out of ideas

I like Hwang. and I would certainly be starting him ahead of Trincao. He is still in the settling in phase, and I'm sure we are yet to see the best of him. Hwang, Podence and Jimines, are going to be a handful.

posted on 24/2/22

Not sure what to make of Hwang. Looked a handful at times and then had a slump. Not sure what position would best suit him either. A front two would seem better than him being out wider i think.

The thing with hwang is that he carries a goal threat and enables us to manage the recovery of neto nicely
