Analysing Lukaku's 7 touches

That's spectacular. In a bad way. On MotD they kinda made it look like the other players didn't want to pass to him.

To work on his close control, he’s been playing two-touch in training. He’s still grappling with the rules though.

Sixth and seventh touch: He was ruled offside for both these touches.

The MOTD analysis was a joke, they didn't put nearly enough blame on Lukaku - he was completely static all game, didn't make any dangerous runs or drop deep to collect.

Ok, there needs to be some blame put on others for not finding him, but when he's just sitting between two centre backs what are they meant to do.

Just beats Ndombele by 1 touch

It’s looking like an absolute sh!tshow atm.

U just have to look at drogba, his supposed hero, who at times had to feed on scraps, and giroud at times for us recently, but always moved for the ball and made sure he was first to every ball. Lukaku doesn’t do this. He’s always behind the play, rarely moves, and even when he does get it his touch is shaky. Losing chillwell and James was huge to our season, but one positive (or negative depending how u look st it) has shown just how limited lukaku actually is. Them being so good papered over the cracks.

Bad form etc is acceptable. Laziness never is.

Scrap that! Just read that Lukaku has beaten the record for fewest touches PL history!

Did Garth Crooks select him in his team of the week by any chance?

He's so bad man

In the condensed spell between him returning to the team & the Palace game, the header in the CWC final (a nice reminder he's a good striker) was literally the only redeeming quality I can think of in those performances. I could see them in Torres, in Morata, quite a few in Werner last season, not seeing any of that with Lukaku right now. Should've been dropped weeks ago.

I read the ballboy touched the ball more than Lukaku

He was paid several hundred thousand pounds this week, and his performance clearly justified every penny.

A bit of running around. I paid £30 for a PT session and it was more productive than that.

Did he get his win bonus though?

That’s fantastic.

When he scores a couple against Lille I’m sure all will be forgiven.

I wtasvhed the analysis in MOTD and it does look like it is as much the team as Lukaku. Thye never look to play it into him early which is his strnegth and it seems like he has lost heart as his movement is not good enough.

Everyone to blame.

👍 that’s the most logical explanation. Sell him to Arsenal at the end of the season and bring back Broja and buy Rice.

Arsenal won't be going anywhere near him

Lukaku should go to spurs if they get the kane money and keep Conte. His transition game will get Lukaku firing.

Unless it’s Lukaku talking, then it’s everyone else to blame.

Not a bad shout except that counts on Conte still being there next season 😂

Newcastle would be the only half way satisfying solution for everyone - but it would be half way for everyone

We still make a loss, just not a massive loss

Newcastle get that 1st marquee signing, but might feel they could do better/get someone younger

Lukaku gets an environment that'll satisfy his ego but destroy his ambition.

posted on 21/2/22

I don’t think Newcastle would be stupid enough to sign Lukaku.

I don't get Tuchel and his style of play with Lukaku.

If he picks Lukaku then he has to get the other players in the team playing to his strengths. Tuchl has to take blame here whilst he continues to pick him.
