Pretty much the same here. I'd offer to pay off my parents houses and give them a little money to give to my siblings under the guise it's from then, otherwise I wouldn't tell anyone and would just try to live a relatively modest life somewhere warm and beachy, with some money in investments and a fair wedge just given away.

That's the life.

Did you read about the new york bloke who won the lottery for the second time in 3 years.

Lucky twot.

My cuz in Canada won the lottery 15 mil Canada dollars. A year later he had a second win of 48k dollars. Jammy dog.

No, your right. It's only advice, not a set of rules.
Anyway well done you for turning your life around.
It's admirable and can't have been easy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's mostly been my partner's doing, she's stuck by me, supported me and hauled me out of the pits again again ... but thanks anyway.

She's also currently paying my way through the college degree I never got when I was young. It's a slog, what with the kids, occasional paid work and a house to tend to, but I'm looking forward to graduating -hopefully with a master's degree thrown in- by the time I'm 56.

My original post was more of a caveat about thinking that material comfort is all you'll ever need to be happy and get along in life. It's not that simple or straightforward.

By the way, 52, I left you a post on the Russia thread from last Friday.

I agree with your caveat, but I'm not an agony aunt, and certainly don't have all the answers. I just posted a bit on improving your chances of having a good retirement.

I've done a very small reply to your Afghan comment. Small because I have very little opinion on it.
