This is in itself quite worrying though. Putin is already making noises about NATO/EU countries supplying Ukraine with weapons. How long before he realises he can’t win conventionally in Ukraine, labels the supplying of weapons to Ukraine as tantamount to involvement in the war, and lashes out at a European country?
Hrs already the said the sanction are basically as good as an act of war.

That’s the thing though - he can barely defeat Ukraine and the longer he stays there the more depleted his forces are. And with the Rouble getting facked up by sanctions can he even pay his soldiers?
Unless he has a death wish it’s unlikely he’ll use nukes so he’ll have to swallow his pride and agree to some sort of concessions and get out of Ukraine.

That’s a bit of a misleading interpretation. He actually said the sanctions were an act of war but then qualified it by saying ‘thank god it’s not come to that’ giving himself some room to back away from making things worse.
Putin doesn’t want war with NATO as the Russian military is zero match for them. He’s bluffing imo and using the nuclear threat to use as a shield for their inadequacies and is just trying to steal as much of Ukraine as possible knowing NATO isn’t gonna declare war on him directly.
Commentators in the UK suggesting that Putin is addled with his dependence on powerful Steroids for his underlying health problems (by SDP founder Dr David Owen, remember him?) and some red tops claiming he is actually terminally ill with bowl cancer and on his last huzzah

To be fair, as an endocrinology registrar, if he were to walk into my clinic with a face like that, the first thing I'd ask him is if he's on any steroid medication. And if not, I'd be investigating him for Cushing's disease. Wouldn't necessarily mean he's critically ill though.
I was interested by the Ukrainian claim that 80% of the Russian army was engaged in the war. If that is true and they have achieved as little as they have so far then they surely are screwed. If the US put 80% of their army into one offensive they would steam roller pretty much anyone and they don't rely on sheet numbers as much as the Russians.
Obviously could be a propaganda claim but if not then they've really showed they aren't the power they were seen as previously

Russian army has over a million active members and double that in reserves... There was an estimated 200k involved at start of invasion so far from 80%
In fairness tho... Russias land is so vast with so many borders... God knows how their numbers are spread out

I think they meant 80% who had built up on Ukraines borders prior to the invasion rather than the entire Russian army
Looks like Putin has been assembling his arsenal from a 2nd hand market! This sham war will over before we know it!
