I tend to look at what the teams who won it did, rather than call the teams who didn’t bottlers. You have to go on a crazy run of games to win it when behind with such margins.

Remember Newcastle being about 13 points ahead of United in the Keegan 'I'd love it' season but not sure what month that was.

There's no possible reason to call Guardiola a bottle job, no matter what happens this season. He has nothing to prove.

That was at Xmas though with Keegan I think? Also there were more games then so easier to open up and claw back a big lead.

Yeah it wouldn't be fair to call Pep a bottler. Though I would feel tempted to if City win at The Etihad in a few weeks and then finished second anyway. That would surely be bottling??

At least it should be an interesting finish to the season, and the CL could also play a part too
Big draw next week

Here Pranks answer me this.

If you could have Liverpool win the title guaranteed but lose in the UCL semi to City would you take it?

TOOR is right you have to look at what other sides have done or do

Liverpool got 97 points and came 2nd and I know loads of people who said we lost it because of this or that game - I’m famous for being negative but I made it clear we didn’t lose it anywhere we got 97 points and City were just too good that year

I think this season will be similar, we could come 2nd again and say things like we’ve only lost 2/3 games out of the last 60 odd….Klopp has been the man behind it all and the fact he has us challenging for trophies every season come April/ May is the feeling we’d all been longing for

nah I prefer the CL over the league, a lot of the LFC posters on here prefer the league though.

When City were 12 points clear the rival clubs had played 3 games less.

More games?

I really cannot believe we didn't win it this year. Honestly at the start of the season I was so confident but I got it wrong. Loads of us did. Going so close in the league and Europe under Ole, then signing the trident in Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho I was so convinced. I fear now that like the Madrid Galacticos team from 2002-2006, we just have too many world class players and it doesn't work.

I am sure he's wrong though because when Chelsea drew 2-2 with Liverpool, City were about 13/14 clear weren't they with having played a game more??

I thought City were going to be fairly comfortable but it’s getting exciting now, well it is for Liverpool fans.

They'll still win it. They'll beat Liverpool at The Etihad like they always do when it matters.

The sort of stuff that I think would see a lot of City fans turn on him for example.

No it wouldn't.

I remember the 07-08 season really well and it felt to me like Arsenal bottled the league that year. They played some outrageous football with Adebayor (remember him lol) and in particular Fabregas in fine form. Cesc played beyond his years that season and they went 6 clear in March when City fluked a 2-1 win against us at OT.

A few weeks later they blew a 2-1 lead at Birmingham and Gallas stormed off the pitch crying... they lost the title that day.

They probably played the best footie that season too but they couldn't quite win ugly whereas we could. If memory serves I am sure they were top of the league for a lot of that year too.

If they beat Liverpool to go 6 or 7 points clear in a few weeks and then STILL lost the league, fans would turn on him I think.

No, they wouldnt.

He is the best manager in the world.

Given what he has won them, it would take a 5 year drought for that to set in.

The fans were turning on him 2 years ago when Liverpool had the title won before January. Saying he was outdated and other team's had adapted to his possession based game.

Boris I removed your comment because my article already addresses that point, therefore your additional input brought no further value to the thread. Thanks.
