May be back after the International break.... according to Conte... He’s getting better day by day... with the pain subsiding...could be on the bench for the Newcastle game...

That’s good news...competition for Holjberg & Bentacur...., could mean no more Winks!!!

So unfortunate.

Hope he’s back soon.

Will be good to have him back so we can rotate more

Swear I remember reading something back in like 2010 when it was suspected he had an STD that affected his performances or something

Two questions here for me. Why was he given an injection in the first place? How did the infection happen? I'm not convinced the medical team aren't to blame here.

Anyway. Hope he gets back out on the field soon

Sounds like he has an STD. Good luck to him.

I don't think he improves the team at all. As good as The Athletic are, they're just opinions. I don't think he offers us much more than PEH or Winks do. I think we're letting 'one of our own' cloud any objective judgement.

I kind of want it to be true. He had lower back issues in his early 20's which was eventually found out to be related to his wisdom teeth, but never heard the STD one, and given the level of hatred towards him, I am kind of shocked I haven't if it was something that happened!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah I remember my old flatmate who was a diehard Liverpool fan telling me the rumour roughly back then as Gerrard had so many unexplained absences with his groin. However it could have been what happened to Skipp

Gerrard and STDs seems unlikely. Isn't he a clean freak?

posted on 18/3/22

Don’t think those two things are inversely related

I dunno. Apparently he won't even walk on the beach in bare feet. I can't see him putting his barecock anywhere near anything that ain't pristine.

Well he is certainly 100 per cent better than Winks.

Only it’s not just opinions. They’ve got in-depth write up about his stats , postions he takes up and how he’s improved us when he’s played.

If you have those stats to hand I’d love to see them. Obviously we know he’s not a goal or assist man so then you have to look at what else he offers. Is he the assister to the assister (aka the Dwight Schrute of the football world 😂)? Not really. Is he big on getting his head up and passing between the lines? Not really. Does he drive with the ball like Dembele to move the team further up? Sometimes but rarely. So then you’re looking at a midfielder whose strength is breaking up play and recovering possession. I’ve not seen anything from him that suggests he’s anything beyond another Hojbjerg. Too many safe passes and not enough craft for me but as I say, if you have those stats, please share.

He’s marginally better but that really isn’t saying much. Everyone seems to be talking like getting Skipp back is gonna turn our fortunes around. No chance. He’s not THAT player. That’s reserved for the Kane’s and Bale’s of this world. Skipp is a squad player. He’s young, he might improve but right now he doesn’t come close to improving our first eleven. Our midfield is shocking.

Allow me. Small sample size but I doubt you could ever pull numbers like this for Winks.

No one aside from you is comparing Skipp to Kane or Bale, but it's definitely fair to say he's been a big miss. You're probably right, he's not much better than Hojbjerg if at all right now. But he doesn't have to be to be a useful part of the squad.

Great comment from fridge, Skipp definitely gets preferential treatment for being one of our own unlike Winks or Hojbjerg

No, a big miss would be a Kane or a Bale. That’s why I’m using them as an example. I’m not suggesting anyone else is using them as an example. It’s just an illustration of what it takes to become a ‘big miss’. A useful part of the squad can never be a big miss. It’s a contradiction in terms.

Those stats are very misleading or at least missing more in depth info. Who did we play? How many of them were home games? So many mitigating circumstances that are vital when really assessing a players contribution. My feeling is that you really have to see it on the pitch in order to know someone is good. I saw him have one outstanding game for us, I forget who it was against. He’s not a big miss. Not even close. He might become one but he’s nowhere hear it yet.

Dier was a big miss when he was out. He's not Kane or Bale
