Can’t beat the older Simpsons

posted on 24/3/22

I can always watch a random episode of Curb or Young Ones. I feel like there are too many movies I’ve still not seen to have time to rewatch old TV series.

This has just reminded me that a new season of Atlanta has started.

My go to shows if just looking for easy background entertainment are Inbetweeners or any of the Ricky Gervais shows, primarily the Office but Extras also. The Wire I have gone through twice, which is comfortably the best show of all time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
See the office for me is far more cringe than inbetweeners, undeniably quality show though. Was surprised the us version was also excellent
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah the US version is great once it moves away from replicating the original.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dwight, it’s all about Dwight, just a brilliant character played to perfection
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All things considered I prefer the US to the UK Office.

Season one of the US office is just a blatant rip off of the UK version but from there it becomes a brilliant show with such incredible comedic depth that I think it surpasses the UK office.

The US In-betweeners on the other hand was absolutely appalling and failed to capture any of what made the UK Version so good

Also the big bang theory is the worst TV show ever made.

Yep, Curb x 1,000.

Still comfortably the funniest thing on TV for me.

Barring nature docs (Blue Planet, Planet Earth, etc.), the only non-comedy show I can remember rewatching is The Americans.

In the first lockdown, I watched nearly all of Baywatch

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I rewatched all of Heartbreak High then the OC. I de-aged by 20 years. And some people thought lockdown was a bad thing.

Yeah cannot stand the big bang , it’s just not funny. Agree with the rest too. Brooklyn 99 is another that I just don’t find amusing at all. Haven’t watched much of it thiough

It’s why I’ve tried and failed to watch the US version of the office

The script on the first episode is identical to the UK one just with US actors ….it annoyed me so much I never went back to it

I’ve probably watched game of thrones start to finish more times than I’d admit to

Breaking bad I’ve seen countless times too

Ozark was one I had high hopes for but I got bored

The best UK TV show was/is The Young Ones.

T'was a game changer.

Don't know if anyone has said this already, but: Peep Show. I can't think of another comedy that you can watch over and over and still get the same joy from it.

Great shout, brilliant series

Comedies are easy to re-watch, any of the below I could watch countless times and it's still good.

It's always Sunny
Phoenix Nights
Peep Show
Simpsons seasons 1-10
Only Fools & Horses

For more serious dramas, I've watched Band of Brothers a good number of times. Still one of the best.

Recently watched Sopranos from the beginning again which was nice to do.

Two classic comfort blanket shows for me to watch again and again.

Frasier
Everybody Loves Raymond

I could also watch any of the Twin Peaks seasons on repeat…..

Recently I liked Jeremy Clarksons farm all good stuff

Wonder if married with children held up ?

Not watched that for years and it probably seems a bit dated now but that was funny back in the day

The daughter was hot too (Christina applegate)

Also had a crush on the mother …it was the red hair (Katy Sagal of sons of anarchy fame)

Father Ted and I'm Alan Partridge still crack me up.

Little Britain, Mrs Browns Boys, Gimme Gimme Gimme etc. All really easy comedies to watch over and over again.

What is Mrs Browns Boys all about.
Its like a throwback to the 1950. Without any comedy.
